the take-off sway bars are a common mod with the V6 guys, but i wouldn't get te shocks and struts.   but definately get the sway bars!

I'll second that recommendation...

GT's are heavier than V6's so adding the GT suspension would not be a good fit for your car.  Get an aftemarket set designed for the V6 such as Eibach, Steeda, or FRPP.

What exactly do sway bars do? Reduce body roll?

Generally, yes, pretty legit, although they are like every other business of that scale, and make the occasional error and refuse to adjust it, even though acknowledged, admitted, and apologized-for:

Nutshell, I "won" a package on eBay, 120-somthing plus shippng of 45 or so. Very fast delivery from their Los Angeles area branch. sent OK calipers and brackets, RUSTY V6 DISKS. I complained, then very quickly they sent another pair of disks, GT this time, but RUSTY AND SCORED, obviously not the 5-mile-old disks they described. I complained, they said they'd send a good set from Fort Wayne, but never did, and stopped acknowledging my communications when the eBay resolution period ran out. I let them take advantage of my patience, but they still look like thieves to me. See the evidence at:

I'd stlll like those good disks, but I'm not going to pay for them twice.

As for the shocks, struts, springs, there isn't enough difference between GT and V6 items to make the swap worth the money or the effort. Sway bars from a GT will transform the feel of your V6, and are a simple enough upgrade to make it almost mandatory. Do it.
