I have the KenneBell 2.6L w/4" pulley on my 07 GT and want to run a smaller pulley for the classic "whine" can I do this with just swapping out the pulley/belt and re-tune to keep w/in a safe power band( what I'm currently running right now 450hp/411tq)? I want to go down to the 3 3/8" if thats feesible.

I have a 3 3/4" pully on mine and it dont whine.
I dont think your gonna get that whine even with a 3" pulley.

Yeah the only whine you might get is the sound you make when you blow that motor.

The problem with tuning down for a smaller pulley is it will most likely leave you rich and give you some problems.

Best to build that bottom first before you swap any pulleys on that KB IMHO.

If you are serious about the whine... then you could always use a cogged/toothed pulley set

Ditto - I wouldn't go anymore power than where you are now without upgrading the rotating assembly at least...;)

Old thought but, after seeing so many threads of blown motors above 12psi on a twin screws on there and other forums. Plus how people have seriously hated their experience with FI motors above 500hp and daily driving. I think this is one time I'm going to forgo the learning from experience and go off the advice and experience of others.

The 450hp mark is plenty!! And having quieted down the exhaust, plus the going back to a more stock look has made me much happier!!

Love the upgraded Steeda Q650 suspension/chassis package though!! :)

I have been running 3 5/8 for two years on my 2.4 no problems.
Once I went over 10 PSI there is definately whine at WOT.

Right now I'm tuned for 10.5psi at ~11.5-11.9 A/F, I can't remember the timing but Its prob. low teens from what I remember. And at WOT I can see my boost guage tickling 11-11.5psi. I'm going off of fear here that with my current tune, a pulley swap=blown motor. I don't want to re-tune either. I think its spot on for me and my wants. And after the stock H-pipe and cats go back on, I'm sure I'll hear that whine again :). Though I'm sure AFTER the car is paid off, that my tune, so-to-speak, will change.:D Good info though and if I get froggy I'll do the swap (w/ or w/out a tensioner?) plus the retune.

If you are running the KB tune (Power) the timing is normally set to 16 degrees. The "Shootout" is 21 degrees.

Its not the KB tune. Dyno tuned at a local tuner here (Jannetty Racing)
