Default 2008 GT Muffler swap w/ pics

So today I finally had the chance to upgrade the quiet stock mufflers on the car. I was impressed that the new poostang comes from the factory with 2.5" mandrel bent true duals and H pipe. So all I had to do was a rear muffler swap and that is EASY! Ford did their homework with this setup. Made the swap in my driveway in less than an hour. Goodbye stock muffs....hello IMCO Pro series axle backs.
stock muffs

IMCO

I was curious if the new mufflers were lighter than stock so I put them on a scale. Both sides combined were 3 Lbs. lighter (1.5 lbs. per side), but that won't make a hill of beans difference. Also, you in fact DO NOT have to unbolt the intermediate pipe to install the mufflers. Simply unbolt the hanger brackets and drop them down with the mufflers. The IMCOs went back in perfectly straight and saved alot of time.

Sound is in FACT deeper, louder, and now sounds like a muscle car. Drone is not existent enough to even care about. Worth the money and I would do it again.

Welcome to the forums. Haven't heard of these mufflers before, I'm sure someone will want to hear a sound clip of them if you can make one.

** Looks like you got your pictures straightened out. Just remember, lower case [img][/img] not upppercase [IMG][/IMG].

Thanks for the help with my pics. This is the first forum I posted in that required the IMG to be lower case. You have taught me something today about the forums here.

Here is a sound clip from the manufacturers website. This is what sold me on them.

Yep, they sure do. I had the Super 40 series on my 99 Trans Am. These mufflers look almost identical outside, but they are different inside. I listened to sound files of both the IMCO and the Flowmaster American Thunder axle back and the IMCO was alot more aggressive.

Any idea how these sound compared to the Borla Stingers? I've been running with the Flowmaster ATs for past 14 months.. been very happy with em (minimal drone), but am looking for a bit more volume. Also, what's the product # of your axlebacks? Thx
