the car still says 29.5 but when i brought out the calculator it show 28
I don't know how you or anyone else is calculating their mileage, but the proper way is to record your miles with the trip meter, then right down how many gallons it takes to fill the tank back up. So if you went 200 miles since your last fill up and it took 11 gallons to fill it up again. You got 18 mpg.

I did notice a 1.2 mpg increase using 89 octane with the stock tune. I routinely get 26-28 highway to work at 55-60 mph. Although it has been 3 months since I had to fill it. Come on spring!!

I was driving into Seattle yesterday after filling up at a rest stop, and I glanced down at my dash to see that I was actually gettinig 30mpg since the fillup. (I reset the tripmeter during the fillup)
30MPG over 50 miles, including starting, mostly doing 65-85 mph. There must've been a tailwind or gradual downhill that I didn't notice.
More realistically I get about 26mpg on the highway, 21-22 combined for my mostly-highway driving.
i pimped out driving to a casino 2 hours away last night, and set cruise to 72 MPG. I didnt mash on the accelerator once and i got 27.3 MPG for the trip....BAAAAAAAAZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZING

I got 285.9 miles on my first 14.734 gallons fill-up. (tank is 16.0) That's 19.4 MPG.
Three quarters of that was averaging 85-90 MPH on the freeway. (I-5 in California's central valley) The last quarter was around town and on the commute to work.
Not bad considering how I've been driving and that the engine isn't broken in yet.
The crazy thing is my V6 got worse mileage. I don't really care about mileage - I don't drive that much - around 150 a week on a normal week.
honestly.. lately.. ive been some what happy wiht my mileage.. i get on it about half the time, but like im runnin the quarter, just having fun.. (thats why we bought these cars!?!)
and im gettin 16.7 ... imo thats not too bad.. about 20-30% highway.. but city where i live, is like.. a light ever 1/16th of a mile, and you catch red at EVERY one of them.. its rediculous..
and for those of you that are getting 20 + city.. i feel extremely bad for you.. COME ON!!.. you bought it bc it has a V8 with "300" hp stock.. if you want to get good mileage, then GTFO of the mustang, and into a 3 cyl. geo.. seriously.. these cars are meant to be fun.. and htink of it this way, you pay ~40-50 a week and get a whole lot out of that.. (you run a car for that much.. cmon.. you cant beat that..

I never run it bone dry, but the computer says 425ish after I reset it at fill up.
Yea like I believe that.....
I don't care what you believe. I get 27 mpg all highway everyday X that by 16 gallon tank. You do the math! You boys that run the piss out of your car, then complain that you don't get 25+ mpg just kill me. I bought a fast car. I don't drive fast at least most of the time. The good mpg I enjoy is just a bonus. To tell someone that they should have bought a Civic or some damn thing if they wanted good fuel economy is hilarious. Stop being so jealous and let your own words soak in for a spell. That means enjoy your car and forget about caring what the other guy is doing/getting in his car. You bought it....live with it. I know I sure am.

I run mine about 100 miles everyday. Some in traffic but mostly not. Out of traffic I run 80-85 MPH and get anywhere between 21-24 MPG. 3.55 rear end, manual tranny. All I have to do is put my foot in it's ass a little and it drops pretty quick. Between highway and city . . . and fun, I'm lucky to get 300 miles on a tank.
Has anyone talked about the ethanol content of the gas being used?? That makes a difference . . . does it not?
