Blownsvt -> heres what it looks like now. turbo is in!! (2/7/2008 5:32:32 PM)

here is a pic of the engine compartment right now, kinda empty. If you look closely you can see the new K- member that is in the car.  the coilovers are in there as well but not much to see there.

the new upper control arms.

got the lowers that match up at DB

and of course
[image]http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v609/nmdolan11/turbo2.jpg[/image]

Also figured out more baout the rear end setup.  it is going to be a Strange 9" with 35 spline axles with the 8.8 ends so that i can retain the stock brake setup.  it will have 3.30 gear ratio with a detroit locker tru track locker unit. No spool.  Got the metco upper and lower control arms.

Any of you guys have anything going on?

someone on another forum asked so here it the story behind the build and all the crap thats going in.

well for those that don't know the story, i buent up a cylinder in october. so the motor has been bored .20 over and honed. stayed with the stock crank and rods, but put in 17cc dished cp pistons and rings to match. all new gaskets obviously and much upgraded head studs to keep thhose buggers down under boost. i also got a 99/01 intake powder coated with a twin 62mm accufab throttle body. got the hellion t-76 s-trim with the BB upgrade, in order for the down pipe to fit you need the k-member and the coilover and suspension componets come with the kit. i also have a new sumped fuel tank with an aeromotive eliminator fuel system with 96lb injectors and the matching driver box. also got the RAM street dual 300 series clutch and 26 spline input shaft along with the stainless throw out bearing retainer. Tradin out the IRS for a Strange 9" solid axle with 35 spline axles, tru track locker and 3.30 gearing. Got metco fully adjustable upper and lower rear control arms to finish that off. I also picked up a steeda clutch quadrant and firewall adjuster.  I also picked up the LDC head cooling mod to prevent the heat build up in the head that caused the problem in the first place. All told it is about $17,000 worth of parts.

Very nice, I'm quite curious about the power it'll generate as well.  Are you doing the install?  If you need a hand, I'd be happy to help since I'm looking for ideas for what to do with mine and enjoy learning/wrenching!

The car is acctually up at Db performance.  I don't have the equipment to pull and drop the motor so they are currently handling that. one guy on svtp with basicaly an identical setup maxed out and 800rwhp dyno on 24psi.

AZ SNAKE -> RE: heres what it looks like now. (2/21/2008 9:01:05 PM)

Looks great.....I like it.

Why are you going with the 330 gears and not something a little more steep?

Probably because of the turbo power instead of S/C.  Turbo's work off of load where S/Cs work off of RPM.  I was going to ask him the same question.  My 4.10's are way too much for my turbo and don't put a load on the motor like a shorter gear.

Hopefully he sees this and answers.  I was talking to my shop about the 4.10 vs 3.55/3/73 and they and everyone else I asked who new anything about turbos seemed to point towards the 3.55s because of the turbo.

Anyways. . .

Blownsvt -> RE: heres what it looks like now. (2/22/2008 7:04:13 AM)

i am doing 3.25's for a coouple reasons.  first off for the track i want to be able to be doing at least 145-150 mph at the top of 4the and with a taller gear i would be having to shift into 5th which is an overdrive gear before the traps.  2nd having longer gears will give me more time in the power band.  i should be spooled by 3700 rpm's or so based on other expierince.  with the longer gears i will have more time at full boost than with a taller set up.  Most 6sp turbo guys run about a 3.27 gear ratio fyi.  because i is not belt driven the rpm of the motor really does not matter.  like one guy said before it is based on the load more than anything.  not to mention is should hook better form a dig.

AZ SNAKE -> RE: heres what it looks like now. (2/22/2008 11:10:08 AM)

Since you plan on trapping 140-150 are you guessing your car will run in the mid 9s?  Pretty bad ass if so....

Blownsvt -> RE: heres what it looks like now. (2/22/2008 11:16:14 AM)

with an auto trans it would be mid 9's, i think high 9's with the 6spd though.  i got to prictce power shifting, never really done it before.
