I have two issues and would like your expert advices on them:
1/ I am switching my C3 to a T5 soon so this problem does not really matter (that's what I think) however, here is it: at cold, when I switch from N to 3, it keeps on switching back to N (not physically but internally). It's annoying but it only lasts 5 minutes, what could it be? Note that it was not happening this summer.
2/ I have a strange noise, mostly when the engine is warm. It's a kind of "click" and its speed is proportional to the speed of the engine (and not the car). It is not something very fast, I mean that I can clearly hear each "click" when idling (like two/three per seconds). Not only it makes the global sound of the car look bad, it also really worries me. I checked and it has nothing to do with the ventilator, it seems to come from the block. Any idea?
Thanks a lot!

RE: Two problems with my 1967, noise expert needed :)
For the trans, (Its a c4 btw not a c3) Two things to check.
1 - Your fuild level, make sure you have the correct amount of fluid-not too much not too little.
2 - Your vacuume line to you trans modunlator (the line from the back of the intake to the trans make sure its connected and not leaking.
As for the click noise. the most common caused are leaking exhastand noisy hudraulic lifters.

Thanks a lot!
1/ I only have 3 gears so I assumed that it was a C3, I am missing something here I guess One more question about it: will my transmission swap get rid of this problem? (I am pretty sure that it will but just want to make sure)
2/ Some more information: it seems to come from the right side of my engine and can get very noisy at high RPM (but not always). If it is the hydraulic lifter, what would be the proper way to fix it?

Pull the valve cover on that side to see if that's where the noise is. Could be a loose rocker, broken spring, or bent push rod. If you've not worked on these before take it to a shop.

a leaking exhaust manifold (or header) gasket sounds the exact same as a loose valve ... at least to me.
especially when the engine is warm you get to hear that more.
so check if all those bolts are tight.
you can always get a big screwdriver and hold the tip to one of the valve covers and hold your ear to the end of the screwdriver (the grip) while engine is running (be careful with running belts and stuff if you have longer hair!)
Just like a doctors stethoscope. If it's under there you should here it loud and clear then. This way you might be able to tell where it's coming from. And even if that doesn't work it looks like you know what you're doing :-]

Hi!
The first issue is fixed, that was just a matter of putting more oil in the transmission. It also shifts better now.
But the noise is still there and way worse! Now, when I drive on the highway and during strong acceleration (not too strong) I hear some kind of loud explosion from the right side of my engine. I would even say it seems to be under the car...
Two things are really strange:
1/ I have no more power when I accelerate, seems like my engine is dying
2/ In neutral when I rev, the noise is here but way quieter
I am taking it to a shop in a week but I am very worried now
