will your car pass an emission check with bassani mid length headers, bassani o/r x pipe and magna flows or do they call it o/r x pipe because it will not pass?

The magnaflows are fine, but yes, the Off road X pipe will not pass. I have no cats...lol... I can either a: Install the stock H pipe when emission time comes or b: just pay a bit more for my inspection.... Believe me when I tell you that it's well worth it.. I've done much research on the Magnaflow straight through mufflers and have seen cars dynoed (and no joke) from 13-18 horses to the wheel..and yes, that's with the stock and restrictive Hpipe...I've seen dynos done on stock 99+Gt's with straight throuhg mufflers and off road X pipes doing 240-247 to rear.. That's power man!

Now that I have this set up, I could tell you, Yes Sir! My 01 Gt pulls hard from the start -- Of course, not to mention top-end speed. I was worried about all this "you'll lose bottom end torque" crap; it's al BS. Bull freakin' Crap! My Gt is now atleast, in the minimum 15 horses to the wheel faster.. At least! I'll try to dyno my car and show some stats. $75 for 3 pulls.. "ouch"
<edited><editID>aaron_b_b</editID><editDate>37937.765150463</editDate></edited>

$75 for 3 pulls is not bad at ALL.

Hey, I'm glad you took the advice about Magnaflow and did some research, they make an amazing performance exhaust, and for the price..it's well worth it.

It's cool to hear about a satisfied GT owner that I may have helped.

So $75 is not a bad deal??? I 'll have to dyno it soon so I'll take it there...

Yes sir, Magnaflow got it right this time; their product is excellent! Bassani has great review with their Xpipes aswell.. I did so much research w/exhaust and just saw that bassani X mated w/ Magnaflows made the perfect match.. In my opinion, it's right!

I have that set-up!!!! Great sound and power!!!! Congrats Aaron!! but actually I have the bassani x-pipe with the high flow cats....but it still sets the light so I had to get mil eliminators

How long did it take foryour "check engine"lights to come on? Mine are not on! My buddy said that the stock sensors wereput back into place by the guy doing the installation.

Is that why my check engine light didn't turn on??

So far, No Check Engine .. I hope they don't turn on anytime soon...

they'll come on soon.... once you drive around a while and they get heated up usually they'll come on a little while after that once they start sensing all that unburned fuel....

With Magnaflow, you are actually supposed to disconnect your battery so your cars computer will benefit from the modifications.

$75 bucks for 3 pulls is a nice deal, I would do it..

Crap! I have been running the car more often now, and I mean full throttle for long periods of time... Hopefully they wont come on *cross fingers*

DAN.. Do I have to disconnect my battery?? Could I still do it now or is it too late? I'll probably do the dyno this weekend depending on weather .
<edited><editID>aaron_b_b</editID><editDate>37936.8810763889</editDate></edited>

You should try it anyways, that's what Magnaflow suggests.

I didn't notice you used an offroad x-pipe. Eventually your engine light will come on and you'll need to pick up some MIL's.

I paid $85 for two runs & it included the A/F mixture too

Sounds like $75 for three runs is a good deal....I'll do it..

Eventually my check engine light will come on???? Ahh man!.. Luckily, I'm installing the 4.10's with a chip to recalibrate the speedo. He said that we could fix the check engine light w/some timing adjusting...

I'll disconnect my battery.. For how long?

Dan04COBRA
11-12-2003, 02:52 AM
2 minutes.

Unfortunetly I don't see a timing adjustment fixing the engine light if it comes on...Those MIL Eliminators can be had for 60 bucks

the computer chip can be flashed to keep your check engine light off, but I also not sure how changing the timing will do it. Either way, the chip will take care of that issue

What I meant was that thechip(due to 4.10's)would fix my speedometer and my check enginellight.. I'll also get some timing adjusting done w/the chip...

Exactly what Intensity said! I just did'nt write it correctly...

Yeah, to keep the light off, but will that fix the rich retarded timing and rich condition that comes along with a check engine light?

aaron_b_b

Man, I have no idea.. Steve (the owner) at Houston Performance said that it would recalibrate my speedo, fix the engine light(if it comes on), andhe also said that we could retard the the timing.I was thinking of getting the steeda timing adjuster, but he said it wasn't necessary if we were using a chip...

My question then would be: Would it be better to by a speedcal to fix speedo,mil-eliminator to fix engine light, and then just buy the timing adjuster seperately?

Dan, when you say, "rich retard timing," what do you mean?.........

Ok,

My "Service Engine" light came on!Ohh well, It was supposed to! Where could I get MIL eliminators? How much are they??

Are these mil eliminators cheap? Has anybody seen this site before? Please let me know!

Those will work fine. Those are really cheap too..

Told ya the light would come on...now your car is running very rich, the timing has been retarded and you're car will run like a dog, have horrible gas mileage and shouldn't be driven much. Get the eliminators and it'll solve all your problems.

aaron_b_b
11-25-2003, 01:48 AM
Hey Dan,

When you say running rich, what do you mean? Yes, the gas milage is VERY HORRIBLE.. I'm not driving it much though! I'm getting them right now!

Dan04COBRA
11-25-2003, 07:10 AM
By running rich, I mean the engine is being fed excess amounts of fuel to help prevent any damage that could be done.

You can actually try disconnecting yourbattery again for a couple minutes, should remedy the situation for small amounts of time until your MIL's take delivery.

aaron_b_b
11-25-2003, 10:00 PM
Cool.

I will do that... I don't want to take any chances... Is the installation of the MIL's hard?

Black Horse

no, they just plug in between the wiring harness and the o2 sensor

Hey Bhorse, how long did you run w/the check engine light? Did you install OFF road X pipes? Did you feel any difference w/the check engine light on?

Black Horse
11-25-2003, 10:43 PM
i didn't really feel a diff. in performance... when the light is on, your vehicle goes into " limp home" mode which kind of limits "power" or what not until you get it to the shop to get fixed.. I know that GM's do this but I'mnot completly sure on fords. I went a couple months with the light on....

Ok, that's cool then.. Mine just turned on about a week ago...

This is funny; my friend has a 00 Gt; he added the Steeda N/A package: 3.55 gears, Cold air induction, blow masters, and a reburn of the chip from Steeda. He also added Steeda pulleys.. He has 17x10.5's in the rear w/ 315 (cheap) rubber. He's a pretty good driver I might add..

My Service Engine check light is on and my car is completely stock- except for the cat back, x pipe and drop K&N filter. I promise, I took him from the lightabout 2 times. My car was breathing better than his cause I reved longer than he. He was hitting the rev limit quick (maybe cause of gears)So I pulled away...and thiswasoccuring w/me spining 1st and half of second.. He was amazed at the performance! I was amazed w/him.. Probably the wrong forum right? lol... ohh well..

Dan04COBRA

Those wide ass tires slowed him down alittle and he probably couldn't drive for beans! But, your exhaust system is super free-flowing...major HP gains for you.

That's why I don't want 18's...

I'm looking into some Ultra lights....
