By running rich, I mean the engine is being fed excess amounts of fuel to help prevent any damage that could be done.
You can actually try disconnecting your battery again for a couple minutes, should remedy the situation for small amounts of time until your MIL's take delivery.

i didn't really feel a diff. in performance... when the light is on, your vehicle goes into " limp home" mode which kind of limits "power" or what not until you get it to the shop to get fixed.. I know that GM's do this but I'm not completly sure on fords. I went a couple months with the light on....

Ok, that's cool then.. Mine just turned on about a week ago...
This is funny; my friend has a 00 Gt; he added the Steeda N/A package: 3.55 gears, Cold air induction, blow masters, and a reburn of the chip from Steeda. He also added Steeda pulleys.. He has 17x10.5's in the rear w/ 315 (cheap) rubber. He's a pretty good driver I might add..
My Service Engine check light is on and my car is completely stock- except for the cat back, x pipe and drop K&N filter. I promise, I took him from the light about 2 times. My car was breathing better than his cause I reved longer than he. He was hitting the rev limit quick (maybe cause of gears) So I pulled away... and this was occuring w/me spining 1st and half of second.. He was amazed at the performance! I was amazed w/him.. Probably the wrong forum right? lol... ohh well..

Those wide ass tires slowed him down alittle and he probably couldn't drive for beans! But, your exhaust system is super free-flowing...major HP gains for you.
