Default 2004 Mustang Stock Stereo Installing an Amp

I am trying to install a subwoofer and an amp onto a stock 2004 deck. I am not sure which wires are for the rca out to go to the amp in the trunk. Does anyone know or have a diagram what to hook up? Thank you.

it would depend on what kind of factory stereo you have, regular or mach.

If you do a search there is an article written up with pics.

Its the mach but I couldnt find anything with pictures. Do they sell a harness or something at bestbuy that has RCAs coming out of it? I am kind of confused on how you get the RCA outputs from the factory deck wiring.

Im not too sure about 2005's and up but they usually dont have pre-amp outs for the RCA's. You can get a mod. that needs to be hardwired into your factory wiring harness to add the pre-amp out ports. If you dont wanna deal with that then you can get amps that steal the signal from speaker wires and produce the music from that but theyre not as clear as RCA's

unless you get a new HU you have to get a line output converter. You plug your rcas into the loc and then into your amp.

some amps have a input section on them called "high level inputs" which is a fancy term for speaker level. With one of these amps you can tap the signal at the back of the rear enclosure and go straight to the amp. Using something like this will occasionally cause noise because the amp you add will amplify all the noise that the factory JBL amps injected(and they are noisey!). At that point you will need to get the signal close to the source(the deck). Some amps do ah hell ya know what I just remembered I have gone over this before....

read that and let me know if it clears things up. I wrote this for a different forum long ago.

well i don't know if it is a vert or coupe, but it is going to be very similar and ican guide you through it. here is my write up for a vert. The only difference is where you splice in your LOC.
