Default Help me decide on tune

Iam researching fora CAI/Tune, only mod I have so far is single GT Muffler. I have the 5-speed manual. Mostly highway driving between 65 and 80 mph. Some in town, only problem I have is the car is a little touchy from a dead stop with the clutch - it occassionally stalls or bucks. I had no problems like this with my 99 Ranger with 3.0 motor. The 3.0 motor pinged(a common problem with the Ranger 3.0 of that vintage). I solvedthe pingingby using 91 and 93 octane and enough of a boost in mileage to pay for the premium gas. I wonder if the stock tunes timing was too advanced for the 87 gas or something like that.

I would like to get better mileage and improve off idle response when letting out the clutch with the mustang.

More performance all around would be great as well.

I like everything I read about VMP and am considering the 87 mileage and the 91 mileage and 91 performance tunes.

What would I expect to see in terms of gas mileage, low end off idle response and overall performance with each of these. I actually wonder would I see any power increase or low-end improvement with the 87 mileage tune? I wonder if the 87 performance or 91 performance would see any gas mileage improvement assuming I still drive the car the same (Iam usually babying the car)?

Also, I live and drive mostly at about 5000 foot elevation. Does the high altitude effect the tune at all ?

Any insights into the different tunes performance and gas mileagewould be apprecicated.

Default RE: Help me decide on tune

vmptuning.com is great! The tunes you want are the same I use(except 93 premium). I have an automatic and get 27-29 mpg highway. Overall response and performance is much improved. Yes, above 5000 ft. does make a difference and Justin will adjust the tune for it. 87 is nice and 91 is better. Mileage might be affected by high altitude,Justinwill know.
