the article said there was a very large berm that the strip sits on, i remember reading that. he flew so far because he basically went off a cliff..... just a very slopy one, but when ur going fast it doesnt matter, ground falls away from u, u fly
u can also clearly see a concrete sloped "rail" in the culdesac. the cartoon u posted showed him going off the culdesac end, so that means he hit this thing, and its sloped at about 45.

if this is the case my standing stays the same... I think he tried to powerslde around the circle to show off and went airborne, there is no reason not to stop safely when something is clearly coming at you, and furthermore there is no reason to jerk the wheel to one side, this only makes things worse when you are trying to stop

im done arguing those facts with u, i was just responding to those people wondering why he flew.
the concrete launchpad, and the fact that the ground behind it is much lower, i thought i heard the overall elevation of the strip was 80ft above the ground below (just below the frame of that pic) but i cant remember for sure, id have to watch that vid of the cop again

also, I still don't see a slope... I see a big ass 45 degree cement jump
for as much credit as you guys are giving this kid in the brain department maybe I'm mistaken and he thought he would jump his 100K+ car over this thing to try and show off

A lot of people apparently have piss-poor reading comprehension skills on this board as the article posted on page 1 clearly states that neither the driver nor his friends were part of the gated community with the private airstrip and that they snuck onto the premises through a back gate.
And seriously, 5, 18/19 year old kids died. They did something outrageously stupid but they're really really young. Apparently, everyone whose laughing about this were freakin' dorks in high school and never did anything stupid... like illicit drugs or driving real fast. Give the kids a break, Jesus.
