I still have a difficult finding the 13.1-13.2 time for a LS1 Goat realistic.
How much more than a LS1 F-body do they weigh? Add in the IRS hindering a launch, and tell me how they run almost .2 off the best ever time recorded for a LS1 F-body?
One would think the best time ever for a LS2 GTO should be somewhere in the 12.6-12.7 range right?
As for Ripped Camel. Your car, with all your 30 hp in mods and suspension, on street tires, is NOT going to go mid 13's the first night out, and certainly not low 13's with practice.
Slips ever turn up, I'll refute my statements.

Hopefully running by the weekend. Gonna run her good too!
Negative. I just did a bit of searching and found out S-197s weigh about 3500 empty. GTOs are at 3725. So there's a weight difference. I had 175lb difference in my head for some reason, but I guess it's more like 225.

i thought s197's were lighter than that? learn something new everday i guess

Like I said earlier, I only got a 13.7 out my stock 2004 A4 GTO, but the trap speed was decent at 105. The 2004 M6 GTOs are good for mid 13s stock. With tires the are alot better, but although DRs kept mine from smoking the tires, they also induced bad wheel-hop. IRS sucks for drag racing, period. They weigh in at about 3725lbs, so they are pretty solid. LS2s are in the 12s stock with DRs, but tires are a mod IMO, meaning no longer stock. I have seen numerous LS2s at the track getting 13.0s on street tires, but NEVER consistently. It takes a persistent and patient driver with a GTO.
stock as a rock is the only way those cars get on the list, only a few have done it from what i have seen. If you bring drag radials into it there was a vid of a stock ls1 ss camaro going 12.60 @ 109 on stock motor and m/t drag radials.

Don't hold me to it. I Googled it and 3450 and 3500 popped a few times. Ford's site didn't even list any curb weight.
Hey Camel - get some gears for that thing. Best N/A mod for your buck and should be one of the first mods done to a New Edge GT. Please don't mention gas mileage as an excuse either
You're smoking crack if you think you can get your car into the low 13's as it sits now. I don't care who is driving it. Maybe 13.5 on a downhill track

Yeah I want 4.30's. As soon as the market picks back up I'll be getting a set. Being in the construction industry isn't exactly profitable right now. Lets just say I used to make more in a month than I made a few years before in a year. Now I don't make even $1. So I'm not exactly willing to dump any money into mods at this time. But it's making me sick waiting to run the car, and mod it!

Sorry it took so long for me to get back in here, family matters..........
Anyway Rinkled cameltoe are you serious.. there is just so much B/S with your posts I wouldn't know where to start. Again PUT UP OR SHUT UP! Go to the track, get a time slip. The CAI thing has been beat to death so I'm not gonna comment on a 10-15hp gain. I doubt Ford did such a crap job of designing the factory setup that they left that much on the table.Where in FLA are you I've got family down that way so you may just get that run. As far as my testicular gerth, it's really none of your business, but they are big. And my knowledge of how your car will respond to minor mods you may have me there, but I don't care!
GTO-CAI = little to no gain I'll say 5hp tops; cat back = about the same 5-10hp tops; Pred tune = 20-28, the only noticable ass dyno gain, thats what was on the car for the 13.2. Was I happy with that, am I proud of it, hell no. It is what it is though I have yet to get this tire spinning wheel shaking f'r down the track. Anyway out of time I'll respond more tomorrow.

I feel your pain Damage, I too have had a GTO and the traction/wheel hop is a problem. People don't realize how hard it is to plant a 3700lb car with 400hp/tq and IRS on 245 width tires. No need to get worked up on this forum, lots of misinformation floating aroung just like any other site. We're still all friends here and most of us are just enthusiast and appreciate all cars for what they are.
