Okay the 5.7 might be a HEMI but its not great at all.. Before mods my 4.6 beat the 5.7 no problem.. and now I even beat the 6.1's... While being nice cars the chargers with the 5.7's seem like slugs.. Dunno how diff the 300c might be, probably not much.. But considering it was a new edge gt I dont think it was even that fair of a race.. I understand the 300c is a sedan but come on I mean how many years newer is this 300c?
Guy @ work has pretty similar mods as you do (though he only has an axle back, aluminum DS, and Bamatune 93 race tune, UDP, blah blah, and 3.55 gears) on his 07, and I have no issues beating him (though this is on the street from 0-110, and 40-120 rolls) course his 89 can spank me like no tomorrow...
So the 'Hemi' motors aren't over rated, I think they did right by these engines. Though I wish I didn't have to change 16 spark plugs... sheesh.
I said that "in my honest opinion" the HEMI motors were over rated and seemed like over hyped.. I just wanna yack everytime i see the "that thing gotta HEMI in it durr!" commercial... I would hope you think they did right because you own one.. I was simply stating that it was my opinion.. Secondly my mods are greater power adders than your buddy I would hope that your tuned 6.1 could beat his tuned 4.6.. What gears do you have stock anyways.. And a 6.1 would hopefully beat my 4.6 when we both have even mods. If not I would hope that the srt-8 would immediately put a for sale sign on the gas guzzler..

Nice vid to AODE06. Dont Doubt the HEMI. Although I got raped by an 01 cobra and my freinds s550 beat me by 1 car length and a fender. I hate losing , but Im glad my stang will woop him.
Can everyone just let me have my opinion about the hemis being overated.. Im not trying to push it on anyone.. its just my opinion.. I just get tired of every joker in a charger wanting to race me then afterwards they act like they shouldnt have won to start with.. And its not like our cars are light.. esp. with you in it Gene..

As for the Hemi commercials (I assume you're talking about the old ones for the Trucks) I got a kick out of them because the way they poked fun at how the Hemi name is synonymous with rednecks. I can see over hyped (but hey, thats marketing for ya) but not over rated, if anything they are under rated and often underestimated.
But if commercials and perceived hype is what you use to base your opinion on about 'Hemi' powered vehicles, I think thats a bit lame. But thats JMHO. just like your honest opinion. Either way, who really cares so long as you aren't posting bogus information on them. Back to the topic.

Amusing Hemi commericals aside, the 5.7 Hemi makes about the same power as a 5.7 LS1, right? I bet nobody around here honestly thinks the LS1 are overrated, or overhyped. Both are sweet pushrod motors making around 1 HP per Cubic Inch, from the factory.
5.0 Mustang & Super Ford mag took a R/T Charger 14.04 @ 99 at the same time they ran the '08 Bullitt. It was optioned out, weighed 4250 w/ driver. That alludes to 13.9x's @ 100 being possible in a more basic R/T. Plus the 3.07's aren't helping, so the motor must be doing something right.

Actually the R/Ts have the 2.87, the 3.06 rear end is in the SRT8s (300 and Charger) which is what I have (Charger SRT8) all are open diff. But yeah, the 5.7 puts out about the same power as the LS1. It's really too bad Dodge didn't try to put these in lighter cars, or at least threw some 3.73s with a limited slip and a good 6 speed manual.

+1 Gears/Posi/6spd Tranny ( wide rario T-56 for the .50 6th ) would be sweet.
Even with the same gears, a manuel tranny would be cool. I don't know if most people who buy Chargers are into rowing gears, though.
Probably not the the guys who drive the V6s and such, but I know just about every person who owns an R/T or above would kill for a manual. I don't know why they didn't have it for the SRT8 at least... There is a company (keisler engineering) out there working on a manual swap (T-56) but nothing new has been posted on the site in a while. The minute it is I'm all over it. Referring to roll racing an aluminum flywheel and aluminum driveshaft will work wonders on that end. My car shines on a roll, where that used to be it's weak point before the flywheel.

would higher gears help from roll racing? most of my races are on the interstate from about 75
Matters what mph your racing too, but most likely they will help at least a little(car length or 2). Higher gears(3.73's or 4.10's+) are better used for off the line though from what I've seen. High Gears + Sticky Tires + High rpm clutch drop/launch=very nice 60ft and every 1 tenth taken off the 60ft is supposed to equal 2 tenths off in the 1/4.
i thought the only car with the 6.1 was the srt-8 jeep?
either way hemi's are fast. my mom has a grand cherokee with a hemi, and since it's winter and i havent driven my stang in a long time............ the thing feel's so damn fast
Chargers, 300Cs, Jeeps, Magnums and maybe even more have the R/T or SRT8 (5.7l, 6.l HEMI).

Well a buddy of mine just got a new 300c. Other than the magnaflow exhaust he put on it, it's completely stock. Well he kept running his mouth about how he could smoke me so we decided to race. Well i had no freakin idea how fast those damn cars are. I figured it was quick but with how much it weighs and the 22 inch rims it has, he'd never beat me. Guess again. I have a 00 GT convertible with bbk pullies, a shift kit, o/r x-pipe, slp loudmouth, and k&n intake. I know it aint much but it's something i guess. Well anyways we take off from a dead stop and he kills me cuz i do nothing but spin for about 10 feet. My tires suck! So then we decided to race from about a 30 mile roll on. He still beats me by about a car length. After that we just kept jacking around racing all over town. Everytime he kept pulling away from me. My question is what can i do to beat this fool! I mean he doesn't spank me bad but the point is i'm getting beat. Think if i got rid of the piggy back bbk's and got some steeda pullies it would make a whole lot of difference? what's another mod that maybe help me beat this 300c?
