I am looking to replace a badly damaged top on an 89 lx convertible. Its got a white top. I have heard of Robbins...and Haartz and then some other random ones. I got a hot deal on a top for 700 dollars installed, its a one man shop, he has sent a few cars off to the Barret Jackson auctions, he gave me a quote to re-do the white Leather on my front seats and rear. 850, hand stitched. He has a little shop with tons of fabric and a sewing machine in the back. I think its a good deal. I need to find out what kind of top he plans on putting in though, what should I be wanting brand-wise? Hes replacing the pad, top and rear glass. Thanks.

I bought a Kee Top (www.keeautotop.com) its still in good shape, folks still think its new.  I bought it on ebay for no more than $250/300, the glass and top.  When I had it installed, the installer mentioned that they were good, asking where did I get it.

Cool. Anyone here know if I should get a canvas or vinyl top? Whats really the quality difference or is it just the look?

Thats seems to be a pretty good price, I am in north eastern part of PA (aprox.1.5 hours north of Philly)
There is only 1 shop around that I know of and the guys wants $1395 installed !!!!!!
I was going to go with an Electron (spelling??) if I can find someone to install it.

$700.00 is a great price if he does a good job. I had a Hartz top installed last summer for $1200.00 which included the rear window, pads, and cables it also came with a 3 year warranty.

I got mine done for $700+tax with a new heated back window. I called some other clown who works on Porsches & such, & he quoted me a price of $1995+tax

Well got a Robbins top with rear glass installed, plus a new header weather strip, plus the pad that goes underneath it...its separate from the top kit for some reason. Anyhow 800 dollars all installed. Thats in California too. He did a good job, going back in for a few tweaks next week, we let it breathe and stretch and tighten in areas. He had to install it in the cold on a non sunny day so...yeah. Has a few slight wrinkles for now. But it looks sweet!
