I'm considering taking advantage of the current incenstives on the '07 mustangs - specifically, the low APR incentive. I was looking for a GT premium, but the inventories are pretty low where I live with most of the remaining cars being at the very high end of the line.
There's a couple of Shelby GTs at my local dealership that have been there for a long time. They're beautiful looking cars, but very expensive (to me). One is listed at 40K MSRP, the other at 42 - out of my price range, but they are nice looking cars.
Given that both of these cars have been in the showroom for at least several months, I'm guessing taht the dealership would be pretty receptive to offers. Thing is, how low could I possibly go with one of these cars? A while back, I came in looking for a car for my wife and the sales guy jokingly (I think) offered me the car for 35K out the door - and that was about 2-3 months ago.
Any thoughts? I could just offer invoice plus 3%, I guess, but even that would be too much for me - if the car is just hanging around like these are, can you go even lower than invoice?
I should clarify that these are normally aspirated cars - not the supercharged versions (I think they have a few performance mods giving them a small HP boost, but nothing huge).
Also, I wouldn't be able to take the 2500 rebate because I'd be going for the APR deal, so this would be best price w/o any rebates.
The Shelby GT basically has the FRPP handling pack, spoiler delete, hurst shifter, a carroll shelby signature, and a different hood scoop. I think that's it???
You can send it to Shelby in NV and have a SC put on! I think the new blue shelby gt's look sharp.
save the money on the shalby and buy a gt. the shelby gt is the same as the regular gt besides the handling pack and some cosmetic differences. for the price difference you could build the gt with ALOT of mods and make it much better than the shelby gt.
35k in my opinion is what the Shelby GT is Worth....I came to that number by adding up the aftermarket stuff and adding it to a GT premium price.
1500 for the handling pack 100 for the X pipe 400 for the axle backs 200 for the shifter 600 for the CAI and tune 400 for the stripes 1500 for the differnt body parts ie bumper
So that's about 4700 so add that to about 30K for a Premium (not that you should pay 30K for a GT premium)(I didn't) Your right around 35K.........So make an offer of 32K and see what they say, however 35K out the door is an Awesome Price, if that's the OTD price and tell them to shove their Gas Guzzler Tax up their @$$, at 3.40 a gallon for premium here, that's all the tax anyone should have to pay.
We have alot of these hangin around here in PA as well, I know one dealer has three of them, I'm considering trading up, but then I'll never be able to mod it, and will have to be happy with what it is..........as any modding will devalue it for the Future.
So you have to ask yourself if you want a collector mustang or one you can tinker with and mod, etc etc. If that is the case get a GT, if not Definately get the Shelby!!
Whatever you choose though good luck!

On the Ford ad I saw yesterday, the APR, 2500 cashback stuff was not available on the Shelby models. ???
Small writing on the bottom of page says "Shelby or Foose Models not elgible."
Might want to do some checking on all that APR cahback stuff is all I'm saying...
Yeah, you would be extremely lucky to have any incentives much less special interests rates. They are usually fairly firm on everything, but the price. You should be able to get it down to $37K with no problems. If they are giving you any trouble go to dealership that doesn't have an SGT on the lot. They can do trades with other dealerships for the SGT you want. They will probably a be a little more pleasant to deal with. If you can get them down it might even do you some good to say you will buy one of their maintenance package, extended warranty, skyway...etc. Any of the forementioned will probably net you about $800-1k. Just something to consider.
They repriced the Shelby GT and marked it down about 4k from the factory for 2007 (though the stock GT got more fluff and became more expensive before the shelby package, so it's more like 2.5k), the Shelby GT is a GOOD deal if you can find the sort of deal you get on regular cars with it. I've run the numbers myself and when you factor in labor you are actually paying $1400 to $1900 for the name, remember the Shelby also commes with the 2k CS package, painted stripes, preformance package, and other stuff like new sill plates and the grill. AND it resells better.
Personally I think it's offensive to BUY a Shelby GT new because of the mark up but it's a neat car... at invoice, there is nothing wrong with owning one if you can find a way not to be pegged as a sucker.
I would walk in, offer them 34,750 and if they refuse, make it blatantly clear that when you walk out you will be going straight to buy this Shelby with over 1k of options and 1k of good aftermarket mods on it:
It's legit but you will have to either pick it up or ship it to you which can cost you, obviously the sale ends tommorow morning, but you can simply e-mail the dealer and offer 33k when this car doesn't sell (and I can bet you t won't being a weekend ).
good luck.

Hi All, I'm new since I just purchased my 2007 Shelby GT on Tuesday. I bought it down here in Florida at Brandon Ford. They were able to apply the $2500 rebate plus they offered the $500 more if I financed through Ford Credit. I didn't do that since they wanted 8%. I was also lucky enough to get the Ford Z plan pricing and picked mine up for $34K. They told me that they hadn't been able to apply the rebates or Z plan until a month or so ago. I just went through this process so I know it's at least true at Brandon Ford. I am very happy with my Shebly GT. Gets lot's of attention and it is fun, fun, fun to drive. Also, It may be true that you can take any Mustang GT and add on the parts, cheaper and with more performance but the Shelby name will be what makes the difference in the future when it comes time to sell. Always has, always will. Not to many classic Mustang GTs getting $100s of K$+ at the auctions like the classic Shelby Mustangs are. Just the way things are. You can say the same thing about Roush Mustangs and Saleens. They all command bigger prices when you could take and do the same to a stock mustang and not pay for the name. Now I wouldn't want to have paid 10K over sticker for my Shelby GT like some folks did but hopefully it will all work it's way out when the time comes to sell.
Yes, I agree. I don't think you will ever be sorry especially at that price. I have owned several mustangs...GT's included and this is by far my favorite. There's just something about driving a Shelby. The longer you drive it...the more it's sought after that is always a plus. There will always be haters, but I have come to live with that :)
Hey. I just picked up my second SGT. The first one was totaled. I got my second one for 35,500. Dealers are trying to move these. As far as GT vs. SGT I perfer the SGT of course. I know that I can get a GT and add everyone of the performance parts to it. I cannot add what the Shelby name does for it. I am willing to pay that extra to protect what I have bought. I know that my resell will be higher. They are not making anymore of the SGTs after 2008.
I work at a Ford dealer and just picked up my 2007 SGT today. I used the employee D-plan and paid $33.4. I went with the SGT instead of the GT because of the resell value it will have over a GT with the upgrades.

I picked up my 2008 SGT last Tuesday for $500 over invoice. That came to $36,908 +TTL. Based on this, I would offer about $32-33k. That should do it; However, the clock is ticking... The longer that you wait, more than likely the demand for the car will increase since these cars are becoming more popular, and they are still limited in production. Supposedly they are only making 2300 of these in 08... They probably have reached this number already.
Of course, all of this depends on where you live and what the supply -vs- demand is. Down here, I saw an 07 SGT sit on the showroom long enough for them to offer it at $34k, while the sticker was $41. That was back in December, so I believe that you should be able to get an 07 for $32-33. Good Luck.
Offer 33K and work from there. These cars are not moving at all. They are a great car for that price. It is a buyers market on cars right now and they NEED YOUR MONEY more than you need their car.
