I was wondering if anyone knows the on which date or what month the new 2006 mustang will be available, or which month the 2005 was released, and also has anyone heard of any changes being made or is it going to typically be the exact same the 05?

The plant was originally scheduled to switch over in June. I don't know if the plan to produce another 80,000 mustangs this year will delay that, or if they will just ramp up more 2006 models. I would suspect that they will ramp up the 2006 production to meet the increased production goal because it makes it easier to source parts without creating a shortage. I have heard that there will be very few changes, maybe a couple of different colors and options, but the body should pretty much remain the same.

Due to the heavy demand for GTs, we have already started taking orders for 2006 GTs because we ran out of 05 allocation.

Let me ask you a question. How do you take orders on cars that you don't even have ordering information on (i.e. colors, wheel options, etc.)? Not to mention that the order bank is not even open yet (and most likely not until late June). FYI the switch-over is in July. All 05 Mustangs must be produced by the end of June because that is when the plant is shut down for the first 2 weeks in July. After that, the 06 model begins production.

You are quite right. We actually enter the orders as 05s just in case we get lucky and get an extra allocation or two. But we let the customer know that it is in all probability going to be an 06. We will simply re-enter the orders when it is time. Since this is the first year, we don't anticipate many changes. Maybe a color or two. We'll notify the buyers when we get the new specs and give them the option to change the vehicle specs. But by having their orders in house and in the bank, we are guaranteeing them their order priority over newcomers.

I was reading on blueovalnews.com a few weeks back about the addition/deletion of some colors for the '06 model year. I also read they won't be offering the Red leather interior next year. There will also be an optional 18" factory wheel. Other than that I think it is going to stay pretty much the same.

I work for RexHide Industries(we make windshield seals and such for Toyota, Nissan, GM and yes, Ford.) Every year, we have a slow period the last 2 weeks of June because Ford and GM shut their plants down the first 2 weeks of July.

I ordered my GT on April 11th and they still have not started the build. Am I possibly going to get a 2006? The dealer has said nothing. Is there an official website to track the build? Is there an official website to get Fords official word on the switch over to 2006? It's been 8 weeks and I'm Jonesin. I sold my 2nd vehicle thinking it would be any day now and it is becoming a nightmare...I can't stand the anticipation any longer ....I, I,I //(slap)*@#*. Oooooh thats better.
