Boozshey -> RE: HOW-TO Install AVIC-D3 (LOTS OF PICS!!!) (1/19/2008 4:46:56 PM)

Yeah tons of wires, but not so bad...

howarmat -> RE: HOW-TO Install AVIC-D3 (LOTS OF PICS!!!) (1/19/2008 5:07:22 PM)

What about the backup signal wire [;)]

Boozshey -> RE: HOW-TO Install AVIC-D3 (LOTS OF PICS!!!) (1/19/2008 5:32:37 PM)

Didn't install a camera so no need...  When I get around to that (in a year or so) I will add to it... [:D]

howarmat -> RE: HOW-TO Install AVIC-D3 (LOTS OF PICS!!!) (1/19/2008 5:47:34 PM)

I didnt wire the reverse signal eiher for the Z1, i was to lazy to find the wire and didnt think that the navigation really needed to know that i was going 25 feet in reverse

Wow that is an impressive write-up.  How-Tos like this are my favorite part of the forum.  Mucho thanks.  I can only hope the moderators see fit to make this a sticky.

Glad you enjoyed it.  Don't worry, I usually solicit the moderators to stickies... :)

blueherd02gt -> RE: HOW-TO Install AVIC-D3 (LOTS OF PICS!!!) (1/19/2008 6:31:38 PM)

Don't you need a part from radio shack to knock the 12v AVIC-D3 preamp feed down to 5v? If you have a shacker system

Boozshey -> RE: HOW-TO Install AVIC-D3 (LOTS OF PICS!!!) (1/19/2008 6:49:58 PM)

Yes that is correct...  I edited the top to reflect w/out shaker.  Thanks for the heads up so there aren't any confusions with some that may not know.

americaniron -> RE: HOW-TO Install AVIC-D3 (LOTS OF PICS!!!) (1/19/2008 7:54:29 PM)

Nice write up, I had mine installed last weekend,and have had a blast with it. I added the Sirus too, and got their life time subscription. If I'd have seen your write up before, I would have tried to tackle it myself. You did a great job.

Boozshey -> RE: HOW-TO Install AVIC-D3 (LOTS OF PICS!!!) (1/19/2008 7:59:03 PM)

Whoa a lifetime of Sirius!!!  Now that's what I call serious!!!

americaniron -> RE: HOW-TO Install AVIC-D3 (LOTS OF PICS!!!) (1/19/2008 8:15:46 PM)

Excellent pun sirusly. [:D]

Cindy -> RE: HOW-TO Install AVIC-D3 (LOTS OF PICS!!!) (1/19/2008 8:25:33 PM)

Wow....I think even I can install that with those
instructions....[;)]

blueherd02gt -> RE: HOW-TO Install AVIC-D3 (LOTS OF PICS!!!) (1/20/2008 5:47:29 AM)

Awesome... I'm torn between this one and the eclipse AVN5510

luvrbcs -> RE: HOW-TO Install AVIC-D3 (LOTS OF PICS!!!) (1/20/2008 9:19:11 AM)

Excellent.

I like the different shots of the bypass, more detailed than the usual pictures going around.  Good one on the speed control also.  Thanks.

Pwny -> RE: HOW-TO Install AVIC-D3 (LOTS OF PICS!!!) (1/20/2008 9:38:19 AM)

Sweet! Too complicated for me though [:@]

Boozshey -> RE: HOW-TO Install AVIC-D3 (LOTS OF PICS!!!) (1/20/2008 2:19:05 PM)

I like the AVIC cause of the nice IPOD interface.  The problem with it is that I have 8000+ songs and it's real slow in navigating the songs.  So what I did was in iTunes, I made all the Genres the first letter of the artist.  That way when I know who I want I press Genre and then the Letter of the artist.  Works great!!!

MUSTANGLOVER73 -> RE: HOW-TO Install AVIC-D3 (LOTS OF PICS!!!) (1/20/2008 5:55:31 PM)

http://i246.photobucket.com/albums/gg94/MUSTANGLOVER73/Picture007.jpg

pics of my avic-d3. i added the lifetime sirius, the ipod adaptor, the backup camera, and i had the bypass installed so that i could have the dvd player run while driving. word of advice, if you guys wnt to add a backup camera then you can buy one for $100 off of ebay. the name of it is a boyo and i read a few reviews with nothing but positives. i bought it and love it. it comes on automatically when you put the car in reverse and it works pretty good at night as well. better than the $250 one that pioneer sells. also it bolts to your license plate bracket so no drilling holes or sticking anything to your paint
