I didnt wire the reverse signal eiher for the Z1, i was to lazy to find the wire and didnt think that the navigation really needed to know that i was going 25 feet in reverse

Wow that is an impressive write-up. How-Tos like this are my favorite part of the forum. Mucho thanks. I can only hope the moderators see fit to make this a sticky.

Glad you enjoyed it. Don't worry, I usually solicit the moderators to stickies... :)

Don't you need a part from radio shack to knock the 12v AVIC-D3 preamp feed down to 5v? If you have a shacker system

Boozshey

Yes that is correct... I edited the top to reflect w/out shaker. Thanks for the heads up so there aren't any confusions with some that may not know.

Nice write up, I had mine installed last weekend, and have had a blast with it. I added the Sirus too, and got their life time subscription. If I'd have seen your write up before, Iwould have tried to tackle it myself. You did a great job.

Excellent.

I like the different shots of the bypass, more detailed than the usual pictures going around. Good one on the speed control also. Thanks.

I like the AVIC cause of the nice IPOD interface. The problem with it is that I have 8000+ songs and it's real slow in navigating the songs. So what I did was in iTunes, I made all the Genres the first letter of the artist. That way when I know who I want I press Genre and then the Letter of the artist. Works great!!!

pics of my avic-d3. i added the lifetime sirius, the ipod adaptor, the backup camera, and i had the bypass installed so that i could have the dvd player run while driving. word of advice, if you guys wnt to add a backup camera then you can buy one for $100 off of ebay. the name of it is a boyo and i read a few reviews with nothing but positives. i bought it and love it.it comes on automatically when you put the car in reverse and it works pretty good at night as well. better than the $250 one that pioneer sells. also it bolts to your license plate bracket so no drilling holes or sticking anything to your paint

Glad to see you wrote this write up since I'm going to be getting the D3....just have one question, I noticed a set of switches on the left side of the power socket, what are they for?

Boozshey

I have my radar detector hard wired into the car, and it comes with a mute button, so I took the shell apart and installed the circuit board behind the blank button area since I don't have mycolor...
