Default 99 Saleen S 281 Sold on Barrett Jackson

http://www.barrett-jackson.com/appli...otNumber=901.1

Just in case you were curious this sold for $35,000.00 I have been watching this off and on at night, there are some pretty nice custom mod Z28's and Camaro SS/RS as well as 68-70 Mustangs that are for sale in the retro Mod form that I would take a stab at.

Anyways just thought you'd like to see this.

Peace.

Thanks for sharing.

I swear while watching the other night I saw it just out of frame waiting to go up on stage.

$35k. I don't know if I would use the words "Well bought" like those guys say every other car but a rare color for sure. Depending on what this particular Rainbow paint job cost I'd say the new owner paid well over premium for the car itself and New retail for the paint job. The mileage was good.

Just my opinion (which doesn't mean much).....but that car looks terrible. The owner is lucky it sold for that much. What's more, the seller likely lost their arse on that deal (as far as the amount of $$$$$ they put into it to take all its original refined look and make it look like a cheapcar). No offense to anyone that likesthose hoods, but that particular hood can take the best looking Mustang and make it look like crapolla [:'(]![sm=rant.gif]

Yes,

This car has been floating around. I'm sure it was out at a SCOA event last summer being shown by the latest owner who made it available for Barrett. The previous owner had the car on ebay more than once for some ridiculous way over the top $100,000 prices. It then was a victim of an Ebay scammer a couple of times. The other owner most likely took the new car price hit and then did everything to the car. The owner in between sold it on auction. It's still a lot of money even for all of the blingy mods. If someone wants a Rainbow car that one of a few then it's worth whatever someone wants to pay!

The guy that sold it is the original owner. I know him personally. He did try to sell it on e-bay once and it has been scammed a time or two since. The car is UNBELIEVABLE in person. IIRC, it was also used in a BASF commercial or ad of some kind.

I promise he is W-E-A-K on what the car brought.

Most of the mods are very tasteful IMO.

pacettr.

Thanks for chiming in. I thought the original owner sold a couple of years ago?I thought he/she didfinally sell it on ebay. ?? Didn't know.

I can only imagine how the owner feels. Isn't Barrett no reserve? That price would be hard to swallow for the original owner regardless of mods. Whoa. [X(]
Barrett Jackson has not been friendly to Saleen Mustangs yet. A 99 S351 sold for a ridiculously low price a while back too!
