Milstang -> RE: Dyno of my SGT (2/7/2008 8:46:41 AM)

Agree with the above on being careful what mods you do yourself if you are at all concerned about resell value.  I plan on never selling mine but still had SAI do all my current mods.  I would more than likely go with a custom tune like they are saying with Bama or Brenspeed....for me it is no choice.  Bama is a local guy who I have only heard praises for and he is eager to get ahold of my car for custom tuning.  I just got back from deployment and will be heading out for a conference next week.  After that I will try to arrange some time for the tune and dyno of my car.  I will say this before you do too much go I would upgrade the brakes.  The handling can't be beat but if you plan on going faster make sure you can stop faster too.   8)

07 Shelby GT -> RE: Dyno of my SGT (2/7/2008 6:14:59 PM)

Milstang, let me first say..."thank you for your service to our country...without people like you I would not be able to enjoy my mustang in my free country".

I agree with everything you have said.  I plan on upgrading my entire brake system when I change my wheels.  Hopefully, real soon.

I just found out that Shelby Automotives is opening a "Certified Shelby Mod Shop" here in the Dallas area.  I visited a couple weeks ago and the VP gave me a full tour.  Absolutely beautiful place...state of the art...complete with 200+mph dyno.  I will be able to have my Shelby modified and like Las Vegas they will update my registry keeping everything authentic.  I am pretty stoked.  I am currently waiting on the estimates to have headers installed along with 3.73 gears and a dyno tune.

The company is actually called Quantum Performance which will work on any model of American cars of any age.  The Shelby shop is in a separate building next door.  So, if anybody needs more info let me know.  I am planning on going back sometime in the next couple weeks.

They are expecting to be up and running in the next couple weeks.

Sorry for the long delay in responding.

Thank you for your comments...I love my job and even with being gone from my wife and car sometimes it is very satisfying work.

Yes, I knew about QP for awhile now.   A friend of mine is the head of all the Shelby Mod shops.  It is a GREAT deal to modify the car and keep the registery updated!  But I am a little biased...

I can't blame you on the response time. I am pretty much the same way :)

That is a beautiful car. Awesome tastes. I can see why you miss it.

Have you dyno'd it? I am extremely curious as to what you are pushing at the wheels. I hope to have mine supercharged at some point. If you have a dyno sheet would you mind posting it? You are more than welcome to post it here if you would like. That goes for anybody with a dyno sheet. Don't be shy...post away!!

TheKurgan -> RE: Dyno of my SGT (2/22/2008 4:58:20 PM)

FRPP FR3 handling pack = $1500

Hurst Short Throw shifter = $300

FRPP FR1 CAI Kit = $1000

XPipe = $150

Add all that on top of a normal mustang and you get the price of the Shelby GT.  It has more than that obviously(stripes, scoop, badges), but I'm just listing the major differences.

It's a great deal really when you consider how much labor is involved in all of that plus the fact that all of it is covered by factory warranty so I wouldn't say you could do it cheaper really :)

Great numbers! Esp for a stock tune!  DO these shelby's run more HP stock than a reg GT?  Thanks J

yes, they are rated at 325hp/335trq?

No they are not rated at that figure anymore.....When Shelby dynoed them they found the cars were really only able to achieve 319 crank HP and 330 in crank torque.  And this is how they are officially reported now by Ford and Shelby because Ford did NOT want another "1999 Cobra" TSB situation on their hands for falsely stated HP of THEIR engine that is in the GT's bought by CSA for upgrading into the Shelby GT.

To add to TheKurgan's post theres little item you all are forgetting. Only 5000 97 shelby GT were produced and only 500 released in calif. I bet there were more then 60000 mustang GT produced last year.  Its obvious that the shelby will hold its value because of the numbers produced while the Mustang depriciates like any other car. Shelby never depreciates. Name one shelby model that has lost any value thats over`10 years old.  I say its a no brainer to go with the shelby

Shelby2809 -> RE: Dyno of my SGT (5/4/2008 8:04:11 AM)

Those are some great stock numbers. If I recall, the numbers from Motor Trend's review were 277HP and 300 TQ.

StangPride02 -> RE: Dyno of my SGT (5/6/2008 11:14:32 AM)

I have an 07 sgt and I too am looking to get about 20 extra hp with out hard changes.  I like the suggestion that have been put out here but I have a few questions I hope you experts can answer:

Difference (pros and cons) between DiabloSport Predator and Xcalibrator?

Difference between several of the name brand chips like Bama ect.?[8|]

What do you think of changing from a 355 gear to 373?

SoulBurn18 -> RE: Dyno of my SGT (5/6/2008 7:23:45 PM)

That's interesting.  I have a Shelby GT (2008) and when they put mine on the Dyno it came back with 232rwhp before they did any mods.  They added some Kook's Headers, 4.10 gears and Dyno tuned it and it came back with 285rwhp.  They said if my car had been a stickshift I would've gotten 305rwhp.

Vista Blue GT -> RE: Dyno of my SGT (5/8/2008 3:58:03 AM)

My stock 07 Shelby GT pure "Shelby GT" stock:  273 RWHP and 300 RWTQ
With a Bama tune and "Shelby GT" stock everything else:  288 RWHP and 307 RWTQ.
A/F 12.7

So my net gain with a tune was 15 RWHP and 7 ft-lbs. of RWTQ.

And I have to say that the GT's "Ford" stock inlet tube is in essence causing a certain amount of restriction as it narrows back down behind the 90mm MAF.  We even tried to lean the tune out a little to 13.5 for one pull just to see if the HP and TQ numbers would increase and they stayed right where they were at when the A/F was 12.7.  So it didn't even make sense to bring the tune upto the usual 13.0 to 13.2 standard for these cars.

So I agree with whomever said to replace the stock inlet pipe with the carbon-fiber one that Steeda makes as I believe that would resolve the air restriction behind the MAF and probably put the car at 290 to 292 to the RW.

The only other way to get these cars upto true 300 RWHP without having to add LT headers is to add UD pullies.  I added UD Pullies on my 06 Mustang GT with Corsa Mufflers, X-pipe and C&L "race" intake and achied 302 RWHP and 319 ft-lbs of RWTQ.  I witnessed another GT doing pullies and adding LT headers and they achieved 315 RWHP and 327 RWTQ.

I have never seen any GT getting to 300 RWHP without having UD pullies and/or LT headers (excluding NOS).  It just won't happen.  And anyone saying they have either is lying through their teeth or the dyno-pull was done incorrectly or not calibrated right.

StangPride02 -> RE: Dyno of my SGT (5/9/2008 5:27:34 AM)

I have had email conversation with Doug at Bama this week and he thought that 5-8hp gain with a tune would be max so you were very lucky to see 15.  I am going to try a Bama tune and maybe a 3.90 gear.  Does anyone have a first hand experience with the Steeda intake line?  Is it worth the money?

SoulBurn18 -> RE: Dyno of my SGT (5/9/2008 5:53:58 AM)

I have an 08 Shelby GT and my rwhp was 232.  With a tuner from SCT and some Kooks Headers, my car was up to 285rwhp.  The tuner alone added about 20rwhp.  If you are considering a tune for your car, I'd definitely go with SCT over anyone else.

acascianelli -> RE: Dyno of my SGT (5/9/2008 8:50:36 AM)

290whp
312wtq

Mods in signature.  Those numbers were taken with me needing an oil change and new fuel filter.  I'll be getting an O/R X-pipe soon.  I hope to break 300whp at the next dyno day I attend.

Won't happen.  You'll get close but I don't think you will get a full 10 out of it.  I predict 295 to 297 tops.  Keep us posted.

Don't waste your time with 3.90's as they aren't that noticeable of a difference. Also for some reason on these cars 3.90's tend to whine. Go straight to 4.10's.  I have 4.10's on my 06 GT and I travel everywhere both city and highway and I would never go back.  Everyone said I would loose gas mileage using them because of the higer RPMs.  My RPM's went up 250 RPMS and I went from a computer measured gas mile average of 24.0 mpg to 23.6 mpg on the highway and from 20 mpg city to 17 to 18 mpg.  98% of my driving was highway so to me the loss in gas mileage was an acceptable tradeoff given the pickup and torque the car has with the 4.10's.  And yes there still is plenty of 1st gear.

SoulBurn18 -> RE: Dyno of my SGT (5/9/2008 4:40:55 PM)

I agree with VistaBlue GT.

I have an 08 Shelby and all I did was go for 3.55 gears to 4.10, Kook's Headers and a Dyno Tune and it increased my car 53 rwhp.  I couldn't be happier with the 4.10 gears, they are awesome.  I haven't noticed much, if any loss in gas mileage and I Do mostly highway driving.  I'd go with the 4.10 gears, you won't be disappointed.
