Where I grew up I always got the impression from V6 guys/gals that they had to "settle" for their Mustang for whatever reason and did everything in their power to make their V6 look and sound like a GT, wished it was a GT and hoped people would think it was a GT.

I'm new to this forum and I was pleasantly surprised to find there are people that like their V6 Mustangs for what they are.

I think it is total BS that there are Mustang owners out there that rip on other people because they dont drive the same model!

I agree. Nothing has changed though. Still settling for 1 reason or another. Hell, I settled for a GT. I wanted a 500 after it.

Of course 90% of the people settled for a V6, simply because it was good enough for them, or because that is what they could afford.  We settle for things in every aspect of our lives.

I mean I could have been an astronaut, but I settled to on planet earth instead :D

LOL.  I guess what I was trying to say was, it seems like there are people on here who actually like their V6 because its a V6 and not just using it a stepping stone to a GT or whatever.

Your statement made me kinda get the whole V6/GT decision.  I could have swung a GT500, but they really dont appeal to me AS much as the regular GT.

So will people start ripping on ME now?

You still are in orbit. Your on Terra, going around Sole, going around Milkey Way, going around Universe. It's all in your own perspective. One mon's "settling" is another man decision.

I know I would go deer hunting in one if I was in that situation, but then again I would not be talking to manequins either :)

True. You ever see The Omega Man? Charlton Heston didn't go around talking to dummies.

It has happened a time or two. All they say back is a whizzing noise like air escaping.

Yep, and also Alfred Hitchcocks, Last Man on Earth, he didn't talk to manequins either :)  He talked to himself alot... but not manequins, and Tom Hanks only talked to Wilson, he didn't make a full body fake person :D

I've been complimented WITH the bf in the car at one time too though.. Who knows lol   I get what you're saying though!

I totally agree with you on that but being a man and knowing how many of us think at 30+ or not I am sure your look and the fact that you know the car helped them to open up to you and compliment the car......may not work for women but if a woman compliments my car I take it as such (most of the time) but if a man compliments a womans car sometimes they have alterior motives and really want something else...if you know what I mean.... besides it is JMO  .....J  (I am sure they were sincere)

    quote:

    ORIGINAL: 05MustangSally

I hope that's not the real reason...I believe some were sincere though

    quote:

I totally understand what you are saying but I am sure it helps that you are very good looking and are into cars! (myself being 30+)  JMO  J

I think real Mustang (or any car) enthusiasts are the ones that appreciate GTs and V6 Mustangs all the same.  Guys I've met with GTs, ZO6 Corvettes, old muscle cars too, they've complimented me on my car quite often.  Actually, they were usually of older age...say 30+.  Younger folks with Mustangs now are pretty biased and competitive.  You'll pass a GT driver on the road and if he's older, he'll smile, rev hello or give you a thumbs up/wave.  You pass a GT driver who is a youngin', and they stick their nose up, give you a dirty look, or try to race you to prove they are better.  We all know stock for stock, the GTs are better.  And most of us want one at a time or two.  Many of us settle because V6 is financially the best you can get for your hard earned dollar.  Nonetheless, Mustang is a Mustang.  If you love it, GT or V6, who cares what anyone else says or thinks.  And if someone compliments it or appreciates it, be much abliged.  I compliment GT drivers all the time on their sexy cars...and they return the favor

My 2008 Pony Package Mustang is completely stock, and I have no intention of making any modifications. I receive at least one complement every couple weeks, either from strangers looking at the exterior, or from friends who ride as passengers.

When I bought the car, I knew I wasn't going to make any modifications, but I didn't expect to receive complements, either. I appreciated my car when I first drove it off the lot, but since receiving the unexpected complements, I now appreciate it even more.

Love your thread, and I agree with you guy's and girl's A MUSTANG IS A MUSTANG. I enjoy just watching the S197 driving down the road , no matter what make( reminds me of the 60's pony car's) they are. As far as the next generation Stang I hope they stay with this body style as opposed to the Italian version. Me and my wife love our V6 Auto Vert, it has plenty of power and still looks great with the top down, its just fun to drive year round (San Diego)
