Please explain to me how your 6 banger went 140 when it's top speed is 113?

Please explain to me why your trying to insite a flame war, seriously get off the holier than thou mentality bro. I would love to see the day when a 4 BANGER makes you look like you ride a tricycle

I asked a simple question and even said please. Now that he has answered the question, the issue is solved. Since he doesn't list his mods, how was one to know his car's potential. It would have been nice if he had mentioned the mods in his story. It would have added something to it. Now, F/O!

I noticed that too, but decided not to comment on it because of the already... testy nature of this thread.

Same here but it's the GT's too. Hell, I know a 4' 9" 40-year old woman that I work with that bought a Mark III custom GT just cause she "felt like it."

Oh, and my girlfriend wants a Shelby GT with an Eleanor kit.

They don't need to know about anything in it as long as it goes fast and they can drive stick.

True, true all. One of the truely legendary moments is when stangs no matter what year or engine size come and work together. I was drivin my lil 6 around town just for the sake of doing it (yes I know with gas Im a moron but hey who doesnt wanna take their pony for a spin?) and I came across a beautiful blue dodge viper. I mean that thing was loud and looked vicious. Well I admired it pulling up along side it and ofcourse the windows were tinted to hell so I couldnt see in and I just left it at that. Well the window comes down and the guy starts trash talking ford and mustangs!!!! So in my mind im like "wtf asswipe?". So I start poppin off at the mouth back to him being I am 18 and a guy and the driver of a red V6 mustang and I can damn well pop off to a new dodge viper anyday I want. Well we rev (and no, I didnt stand a chance) and take off at the light. I tried but lets face it, aint no way a still almost stock sixxer stang is gonna keep up with that for long. For the first maybe minute half minute I kept up then my sixxer maxed at like 140 and he was still going....well next thing.....outta nowhere......this honest to f*cking God, 1967 All black fastback Mustang comes roaring by on its back two wheels. I mean it was like "holy f*ck are those flames shooting out the pipe!?" Well this beautiful black mustang from hell completely embarasses the viper, slows down, beats him again, slows down and does it again for a third time and just is all over that viper to the point of the guy turned on his flashers and went another way. As we near the end of my tale I very VERY slowly approach this 67 who is now at a stop light revving his engine, shaking the ground and spouting fire from the exhaust. Now going through my mind is "Oh my god I think i just came" but my shock and awe turns to disbelief because when I get dead even with it at the light and look over.....its a damn old man who looks about mid to late 70's sitting there with literally "Bad to the bone" by george therogood (sp?) playing and giving me the biggest toothless grin I have ever seen. Well the light changes and Im between laughing for Jesus cause finally there is one of the old breed next to me and crying for how bad that old papa stuck his foot up that youngsters ass. End of story he takes off again burning rubber and leaving smoke in his wake as he burns off down the highway and at last second I catch on his hatchback a sticker that reads "Hell on wheels".

Great story ChrisRod! The old man driving the black Mustang from Hell with the flames shooting out the back makes me think of the movie "Ghost Rider" with Nicolas Cage. Perhaps that '67 Mustang was a Ghost Rider protecting the legendary Mustang name! I hope you find him someday and get a full story on his car.

hold up wait a minute .....if you see an old mustang...i'm talkin old....65-70...what do you think?  you think damn sweet......when you get up and find out it's a slant six or a small block instead of a BB or a base instead of a mach1 or boss or a shelby, you don't say......oh...i'm disappointed......i realize this is kinda old, but i've been away from the comp for a few days   here's a joke.....now remember it is a joke...i saw it on a stand-up....."you know ho drives the big huge trucks and fast sports cars? guys with the smallest peters making up for their insecurity." i know i'll pry get ripped on for that, but hey, i think it's funny and i have a BB car...

and another thing that bothers me...if all the v8 guys are so happy with their cars and all that, why in the world does that damn svt stang across town keep trying to race me in my "lowly" v6?

oh, well...i'm done

From what Ive heard the new V6 stangs (05 and up) are equal with the 04 and older year GT's and Cobra's. This is comparing only stocks tho not all the GT's and cobras and sixxers that have been modified. Ya....id be pretty pissed too if the next year's V6's were just as fast as my V8 and even looked better too. Lol ok bring on the flameage ^-^

On the serious note its not about Gt's and sixxers and all that jazz anyway. Just be happy your driving a legendary mustang. There will always be a car faster than yours and always a car slower than yours, its just the way it goes. You win some, you loose some.

Thanks man.  It does fit perfectly now that you mentioned the whole Ghost Rider thing. At the time it was more to me like the little brother trying his best to fend off a bully but failing miserably and at the last second before he gets creamed, daddy shows up and liberally applys boot to ass. My dream tho would be to find him and him pass on that mustang to me tho like as some "This mustang has chosen you for its rider" or "You will be the new Ghost Rider" or some corny, cheesy jazz like that.

Oh the ladies you would attract with that stang

Our V6s our not equal to the older (99-04) GTs.  I'm sure we'd all like to think so but it's not the case.  The New Edge models were pushing 260 HP/302 ft.tq.  We can surely keep up with a stock GT, stock for stock, but by no means keep even or beat one.  Now a modded S197 V6 with, let's say, a CAI/Tune, exhaust, and a few minor mods can easily keep up with a stock 99-04 GT.  Now to our benefit, the V6s carried about 190 HP   And thank god, the new GT500 pushes 500 HP...the 2001 Cobra had about 325 HP .  So all in all, our V6 is very impressive and has a lot more potential.  But it's mindless to say that we can beat a 99-04 GT...

I totally agree with you on that but being a man and knowing how many of us think at 30+ or not I am sure your look and the fact that you know the car helped them to open up to you and compliment the car......may not work for women but if a woman compliments my car I take it as such (most of the time) but if a man compliments a womans car sometimes they have alterior motives and really want something else...if you know what I mean.... besides it is JMO  .....J  (I am sure they were sincere)

I hope that's not the real reason...I believe some were sincere though

I think real Mustang (or any car) enthusiasts are the ones that appreciate GTs and V6 Mustangs all the same.  Guys I've met with GTs, ZO6 Corvettes, old muscle cars too, they've complimented me on my car quite often.  Actually, they were usually of older age...say 30+.  Younger folks with Mustangs now are pretty biased and competitive.  You'll pass a GT driver on the road and if he's older, he'll smile, rev hello or give you a thumbs up/wave.  You pass a GT driver who is a youngin', and they stick their nose up, give you a dirty look, or try to race you to prove they are better.  We all know stock for stock, the GTs are better.  And most of us want one at a time or two.  Many of us settle because V6 is financially the best you can get for your hard earned dollar.  Nonetheless, Mustang is a Mustang.  If you love it, GT or V6, who cares what anyone else says or thinks.  And if someone compliments it or appreciates it, be much abliged.  I compliment GT drivers all the time on their sexy cars...and they return the favor

I dunno man I haven't ever come in any sort of conflict, most people in my area regard both v6 and v8 as the same thing, since the body is essentially the same.  So pretty much haven't heard anything besides one lady complain her GT's fuel economy is pretty bad so she stops checking the MPG on her dash.  It shouldn't be that bad though right? I'd expect maybe 18 out of it.  I'm only getting 19.2 out of the v6.  All in all, I know I bought a mustang... what's under the hood is fine with me as long as it isn't a 4 banger in this type of car, I heard those older 4cyl mustangs were slugs.

Oh and on top of all, I had a lot of people checking out my car when it was brand new when I drove it around Blackhawk/Danville (this is where most of the rich people live here).  The pony grille really sets off the car and I think people got kind of bored with the GT fogs.

Oh crap, crap, crap.  I think the dealer screwed me, I wanted a Mustang but they sold me a V6 version.

p.s. That was a joke.  I love my V6 of Fury!
