was that previous poster seriously trying to say that a mustang is NOT a mustang?

"until we acknowledge this and discontinue our cry that a Mustang is a Mustang, we will always be "ragged on" by GT owners."

i dont know about you, but the title/insurance policy to my car says 2008 Ford Mustang

It hasn't escaped me what a Mustang is. By continually crying out that "a Mustang is a Mustang," it connotes a desperation to be equalled to the GT and the rest of the model lines. The fact is that there are differing levels of performance in Mustangs off the assembly line, and many of those who paid more money for higher performance will always have a hard time accepting that those who paid less imply that their cars are the same. True or not, this wish-to-be-equal is an unfortunate interpretation that the GT owners have when they hear us V6 owners say that a Mustang is a Mustang. No doubt: a Mustang is a Mustang, and that always goes without saying. The problem is that the V6 owners are the ones that keep saying it.

Anyways, if people didn't buy the GT because they don't like the emblems...and routed for the V6 instead...Why?

Just seems like a strange excuse...IMO.

Girl, who ever buys a sixer over a GT solely because of badges, I full of cr@p.
I will never buy that.

Powerband,,,,  your missing the point its not that the V6 is trying to be equal to the GT's power or performance. (in fact i proudly sport a 4.0 badge!) its the fact that the car, the look, the model is a MUSTANG,,,   who cares if its a V6, GT, shelby, cobra, stick shift or automatic... wheather its a saleen, roush or a  mach, a boss, if its black , white , red, with racing stripes, dual exhaust, single axel back, lowered, tinted .. badged, sleeper, fog lights, modded, stock, chrome wheels, polished wheels,,, you get the point............   its all still a mustang.. We have the "CHOICE" to have a faster version, a color of our choice, slight changes in bodystyle, different size liter engines, different exhausts, and of course the thousands of different looks we can adjust from stock , to upgrades, mods, aftermarket parts.

It's not too hard to understand that the Pony and the GT are different cars.
In my mind, until we acknowledge this and discontinue our cry that a Mustang is a Mustang, we will always be "ragged on" by GT owners.
I am proud that my Mustang has a V6, which is plenty of power for my purpose.
I like the visual simplicity of a stock V6.
I like that it is less expensive to insure.
I like that the engine is durable.
I like that it carries the Pony emblem that represents over 40 years of the classic American Icon.
I like that the price is a bargain for such an Icon.

And I don't try to pretend that it is a powerful car, or a race car, or a drag car, or a GT.
It is a V6 Mustang with a trouble-free, tried-and-true American V6, built for the common American citizen.

I do a little more than pretend it's a drag car. Fastest car under 20 Gs!

I've made multiple track passes with it. It takes the beating well.

You know that the people in the GT section are all saying,

"Hah those V6s really think we like them!"
"Hahaha yeah you're right.  Fools!  ^_^"

The people in the Shelby GT500 section are all saying,
"How many more payments do I have to pay...?"

That's funny. No, that's NOT what we are saying.

So true. You will never hear a GT owner saying to a Shelby, we are alll MUstangs. Can I have a bite of your sandwich?

Eh It use to bother me but if it happens, which it seldom does, I just blow it off. People who have the time to rag on others for car preference need to get a life, that sorta thing happened in grade school and anyone still clinging to that mentality have no business behind the wheel of a car

I don't know anyone who rags on the cars. It's not my intent. It's just when I see a Mustang approaching me, I get all excited and then if it's a 6 banger, it's kind of a let down or disappointment. I don't know....maybe I was hoping for a S or a 500. At least a GT.

When I see a mustang, I'll do the best I can to get next to them.  I usually play cat and mouse with them for 10 minutes before I actually get next to them, and I tip my "hat" and drive on.  They return the gesture and do the same.  Makes me feel damn good.

And it's a let down and a disappointment? lol wow, makes you wonder what happens when one of those s281 saleen extremes rolls up on a GT. See how the cycle goes? Not really any point to getting depressed when a sixxer rolls up? The whole no replacement for displacement died when 4 cylinder's out-of-the-box killed v8's

I don't do all that. Maybe a wave or a nod if we make eye contact.

I am sorry but I was reading over the thread until the whole "seeing a v6 makes me disappointed", kinda took me back to third grade so I wanted to just correct it. I do not mean to come off as vicious, its just rough when all the forums on the internet hold on to the same belief.

Nice color stang btw

It's the same thing when I go fishing. I am hoping for a German Brown trout, but usually it is a rainbow.  They are more common.

Then move out to a bigger lake, but you gotta live with what you catch.  Aside from that, you could be throwing out one of the best tasting rainbow fish you ever caught.

I throw em all back, but I do like to see those brownies. Same as the upgraded stangs.
