We have a GT500 with a KB stage 3 installed, we are having some trouble with the the heat that the new blower generates, the last thing we did is upgrade the heat exchanger and canister with the one that lethal performance sells.

The other option we have been offered does not satisfy me because we are told to get a bigger canister that canton makes, that would make the volume of coolant bigger so it will make it to last longer but not solve the problem after all.

The car is having a really incredible abuse (but at the end is not my car, or my life), is being driven heavily on the streets, yesterday night the owner reached almost 300kmh (close to 190mph) on the local highway, he insists on beating big racing cycles with it (R1's etc.). By his request we ordered an smaller damper so the boost can go even higher among other things. (BTW, is wonderful the punishment this engine can take).

The thing is that after beating it for a while, reaching that speeds the coolant blows off the canister, there was a little problem with the sealings, because it boiled pretty quickly before, now it holds better the pressure and work at better temps, but still, keeps boiling and blowing.

I just want to know if someone is having similar problems, we have told them that it may not be somebody that is as crazy as they are, that maybe just get the car to strip and ran the quarter mile and let it cool, not race the car for miles and miles full throttle.

I'm inclined to think that a bigger exhaust exchanger is needed but, we could not find another one. Compressing that amount of air, that fast and with a compressor so massive must generate too much heat. We are thinking too on adding extra cooling systems, but will they last that long?

Thanks.

I there,

Glad to see I'm not alone. I don't drive the car in the winter but I did 15K this summer on it. There is a good stretch of service road going from and to where I live. It's about 4 miles. I normally do a pass over 180mph in the morning and another one on the way back. I also have a KB with stage 3 on it. I know it has a over heating problem because the whole car really smells like burnt plastic when I park it in the garage.
I read posts from <<experts>> here in there saying the car won't take anything over 600 at the wheels.

I may stand corrected in future but for now, this thing has surpassed my expectations 10 times over.

I would tell the guy not to sweat it so much and get used to the smell.

Actually, the coolant just blows out of the canister and sparces in the engine bay, the cap can't hold the pressure anymore.

Call Evoloution Performance they are the experts on GT-500s, ask for Fred he will steer you in the right direction. Kind of strange on the over-heating though, the bigger the blower displacment the more efficent it is, I have the AFCO dual-pass heat exchanger on mine as well with the stock blower and I beat on it hard to, temp never goes above 1/2 way and I live in the dessert. The stock blower generates more heat then the aftermarket Whipple or KB, escpically when they are pullied and tuned like mine.

Who would know it, I talked with Fred yesterday because we ordered the smaller damper from him. I'll call him. Will keep the thread updated for completion purposes.

If anybody has an idea pitch it in.

Thanks.

600 rwhp? Hmm an expert is someone who thinks they know at least a little more than we do...
From what I have been reading the car should handle alot more. The transmission is the week point then the rear end from what I have gathered...
Wouldn't the cpu dumb down the engine if it found something wrong?
