which one of those would be the 3 speed auto in our '67 Stang 289 coupe?

and is it bad to drive hard with that tranny? it has a shift kit if that makes a difference...

Well it came in my car when I bought it and the guy said it was out of a '69 mach 1.  I've never herd of a C9 transmission, but a friend of a friend said that it was a rare racing transmission.  I'm not sure how to tell what kind it is by the numbers, but maybe one of ya'll can.  here are all the numbers I could find on it.

C9ZP 7006A    2

9022    (These were on the other side in smaller numbers).

RF C8-AP  7A:05A   (those are on the front of the transmission).

Any help would be appreciated.

C9 means 1969 the rest of the numbers are a part number. I never heard of a C9 tranny either C4 was the standard small block auto but there is a small block C6.

I hadn't checked up on this in quite awhile and just saw the latest post to my question.

Thanks a million for that link, now I finaly know there is such a thing, and my eyes weren't just playing tricks on me.

Now I just need to decide if it's worth rebuilding or if I should sell it.

I'll have to check up on the C-9 thing. I believe it was a large truck tranny. As far as your tranny is concerned, it decodes to a 1969 Mustang auto tranny. I'll double check this and get back to you.
