Exx,

I hate to say but I disagree with what you have been told.  I did a set of CMCV delete plates on a friends 05 and oil poured out of his intake.  Well poor might be a little over bored but it dripped for hours.  We finally started blowing it out with a compressor.  On a stock or near stock set up I would say it is not ideal but shouldnt hurt anything.  Hell these cars have been out since 05 and I am sure the F150's have the same problem too. 

But with a S/C or any FI you are causing even higher pressures so it gets worse.  Plus I dont want oil soaking my intercooler causing higher IATs or getting in the cumbustion chamber leaving carbon deposits and later causing detonation.

For $250 or - I am happy to do it.  Even if it is over kill.  Now I will be driving around for about a month without it and I am not going to freak out, but I will be happier with it.

I'm running brenspeeds stage 4 complete package except for the 3.0 pulley I have a 3.2 . If your running this stage I can say 100% you NEED to get an oil seperator.  Pull off your intake and wait half hour the oil will probably start to drip down the throttle body, atleast mine did which is why I installed the cheapo catcher.  I drove my normal time to work and back(2hours, 1 way) and I have about shot of oil in the catcher.   I can't imagine how much oil has been getting through.

If you want I can take a picture of the oil It collected.

Here you go just ran out and took pictures, the engine should be cleaner!  It's not really pretty but it does the job until I buy the new one.

everyone has good points, but Moose nailed it.

oil vapor getting into the combustion chamber,
could lower the air/fuel mixture's ability to
resist detonating, hence predetonation (pinging).

we don't want this to happen with the power levels
we are producing.

keeping the inside of our intake manifold and combustion
chambers clean, is a side bonus.

I'm about to install the Moroso oil separator and have a couple questions. I'm still running the stock airbox so the easiest place I can find to mount it is next to the passenger side shock tower. Do you think this would be too far to run the hose. Would I have to worry too much about oil pooling up in the hose with it being that long? I think it would be around 3 ft each way. Also on the Moroso can it seems like the inlet is not much higher than the drain. I was wondering if enough oil accumulates in it it is going to block the inlet. Or do I just have to be sure and drain it more often? Just some thoughts and concerns I was having and if anyone has any input I would appreciate it. Thanks

alright you guys r getting me nerves.  my cars driver side valve cover is pluged of and my boost gauge is ran of my intake manifold.  here r some pics of my set up.

Umm.. Who did your install?

Hard to tell from the pics but are you saying they just capped off your driver side PCV vent?  What did they do to the passenger side vent?

I am not a PCV expert but I would say something is wrong.  You should either have a PCV system or have breathers but not caps.

You have no where for the pressure to go.

MODADDICT would probably be able to tell you the specifics but I would agree something looks wrong to me.

i am getting FI soon and am definately doing this mod soon after that.  also this weekend out of curiousity, i took a look at my hoses from the valve cover to the intake, and on the connection at the valve cover there was a little oil resudue notable there, not much bc i'm still NA, but enough to notice and i think over time it will get more and more.  being anal as i am, even if i werent going FI i would still do this mod.  knowing that something can be better, makes me want to fix it.

yeah king, you're gonna want to redesign
your PCV system.

one of the purposes of the system is to remove
gases that accumulate in the engine. with
your setup, there is no way for the gases to
get out.

mainly this affects your oil and it's ability to
lubricate properly.

allthough short lengths are probably
best, imo, i don't think there will be a
problem.

i just got my summit package and the -10
hose, looks like it can allow some
pretty good air flow

There's a simple way to check.  Pull your hose off running from the pcv valve to the intake manifold.  I bet oil runs out of it.

Ditto. I actually have a hard time believing Brent even told you that. More likely he was talking about something else and you confused it cause he seems like a fairly knowledgeable guy and this is a good mod at ANY boost level...[;)]

We're not talking about a lot of money for 'possible' improvements here. This is a cheap mod that's darn right STUPID not to do IMO. But, to each there own, and nobody is trying to force anyone to do anything.

Now let's talk about bigger intercooler reseviors...[:)]

I just got down installing my seperator. Thanks to modaddict and Cali HP Addict for the parts list. I had to make a few modifications to the braket to get it to mount correctly, but I like the way it turned out.
