As far as cutting the braided hose I havent done it yet, but I have seen the masonry chisel and aluminum block trick.  Seems to work well but I will just going to use a dremel with a cutting wheel.  Should work fine.

2 weeks and I will have this mod complete and pics.

I used a dremel to cut mine worked great.  I did go through several cutting discs though.

i did the Moroso can set up, the parts are as above.  the only difference between the Moroso and the Steph's is you need the reducers for the Moroso bc the the Moroso can has 12 AN connections and the hose is 10 AN.

You can use the moroso can without the reducers.  You just need to slide a 1/2 inch piece of hose over the stock fittings.  You actually don't need to do that, because I was able to tighten the 12an hose over the stock fittings.  12an is quite larger than the stock fittings, so I'd recommend increasing their outside diameter in some way.

Don't try slipping 10an hose over the 12an fittings, it's not going to happen.[;)]

I just bought the reducers, Easy is good.

Thread from the dead, lol. I just decided to finally install a decent catch can setup. Moose, I''m not really sure I understand how you installed yours. Did you use 12AN hose and connect it to the stock fittings for the valve cover and vacuum intake? If so, you wouldn''t happen to have a pic? I know this has all been gone over a thousand times, but this thread is confusing and I''m trying to figure out the setup that is most cost effective and efficient. Yours seems to be a tad cheaper route than the others, if I''m reading it right.

hammeron -> RE: Oil Separator - Attn: MODADDICT (6/14/2008 11:01:27 AM)

i might have a pic of moose''s setup,
i''ll look for it when i get home tonight....

Well, sinc the thread re-surfaced, I''ll ask a question.  I have a new Moroso set up sitting here with Earl''s fittings and Perm-O-Flex hose that I may be selling.   Instead of installing it I put breathers in.  The only time I''ve gotten oil out of the breathers is running 120mph+ on the autobahn on a 4 hour round trip combined with a weekend of racing.  No oil comes out during daily driving.

The interesting part is the explanations of the PCV system has the oil coming out of the drivers side, however, the oil I have has come out of the passenger side and the drivers side is dry.  Can someone explain that?

I''ve heard of a couple of people getting oil from the passenger side. I can''t help you with what could be the cause.

On a different note, PM me a price on that setup shipped to zip 70043 and I''ll see if we can work something out.

Vertigo -> RE: Oil Separator - Attn: MODADDICT (6/14/2008 3:04:07 PM)

Here is a shot of my moroso can. I need to shorten the pass. side line and put the stock elbow on it.

show the connectors.......

The drivers side has a baffle under the cover, i''m not sure about the passenger side.  The passenger side is designed to take air in, so that''s why you''re getting more oil out with a breather setup.

Yes I used 12AN hose and 12AN fittings on the moroso can.  with a standard worm type hose clamp, the 12AN hose will compress tight over the stock fittings, just be sure to tighten the hose clamp over the thickest portion of the fitting barb.

Mikes_BLK_GT -> RE: Oil Separator - Attn: MODADDICT (6/24/2008 10:08:56 AM)

Well what the hell I''ll revive it again [:)]  So I have Stefs can and NPT/An adaptors since the can came with female NPT.  Some of our equipment cooling water lines are NPT and we use teflon tape to seal them.  My questoin is what type of thread sealer is used for NPT fitting''s in this type of application or will teflon tape do the job?  Also my can did not come with a mounting bracket so what is suggested to mount my catch can?  I''m thinking about mounting to the cai heat shield.

You mean this from page 1?  MOR-63401 3" can bracket 6.95

I don''''t like teflon tape on anything that can be sucked into the motor.   I use permatex teflon thread sealant.  But didn''t need any sealent for my oil seperator.

sevenleaf -> RE: Oil Separator - Attn: MODADDICT (6/24/2008 11:24:07 AM)

One thing I would like to mention take from it what you will,

When I had the cheapo 25 dollar husky oil seperator installed I would fill that thing up in a few days.  The stef''s oil seperator does not capture nearly as much oil as the cheapo did.  The oil I pour out speaks for itself.

Ooops LOL I missed that part.

That was my thinking.  Thx thats proabably the route I''ll take.  I may put some on just for piece of mind

nineinchnail1024 -> RE: Oil Separator - Attn: MODADDICT (7/6/2008 5:08:41 PM)

Finally got around to installing my moroso catch can. I went ahead and removed the blower and cleaned out the oil in the intake. To be honest, that probably wasn''t necessary because the intake might have had a 1/4 teaspoon of oil in it. (I''ve only put 1K miles on the car since I installed the blower.) Pics:

2006gtmike -> RE: Oil Separator - Attn: MODADDICT (7/7/2008 10:05:41 PM)

I''m going to attempt to order (Part#5122) the Stef''s Air/Oil Separator with two -10 male fittings directly from the source.
