I still havent installed mine yet. I know I know, but I dislocated my knee cap, and well, I dont walk or stand too good so I am waiting a bit.
No explanations needed, that is a valid reason--better than all but one other reason I have read. Much more legitimate than mine--I haven't had time.
Because this mod is not scheduled anytime soon, I am considering having the can powercoated or painted to match my car, I figure if decals will give more HP, so will color-coordinated mods!
MY reason for this mod being delayed is I have recently purchased a 1990 Mazda Miata and it requires some maintenance/repairs to be operational (possible heater core leak). This convertible will be my wife's daily driver and the Mustang convertible will remain the garage bitch.
Okay guys, please don't take this the wrong way but I took mine off the car and am going to sell the whole kit for about $125.00 (good deal for someone...lol)
I still think this mod is great and not taking it off because it's not good. I'm doing a custom vent to atmoshphere on both sides with individual breathers.
For my particular set-up - I think this is best. But again, just for my set-up - for most of you guys, this seperator discussed in the thread is still the best way to go.
I'll post up pics in this thread next week when I get the car back and show you the set-up I am doing.
CK
Great now I have to change my setup again! Thanks alot.. You wouldn't do it if it wasn't better!!
....You say jump we ask how high

I have been waiting for quite some time to get the Stef's. I guess it just aint gonna happen. So what is the part# for Moroso from Summit? Ive looked through the catalog and couldnt really determine what I needed. The descriptions were sort of vague (maybe I'm just dumb and need the info handed to me on a silver platter) lol

Its been maybe 1 1/2 mo. Called the number on the first page of this thread. Nice guy though. Really sounded like he could make what I needed. Called 2 weeks after initial call, and he said he was due to get the order anytime. The Moroso can does look better though.

The OP talks about the Stef's can. There's a lot of posts in here about ordering wrong fittings, ordered can w/ wrong fittings, etc. This thread's evolution & posts of trial & error - it's hard to tell what's what.
So, that's why I'm asking specifically for a parts list for the Moroso can. I believe someone above is also asking the same question.
I can't believe vendors haven't jumped all over this yet.

Would you recommend the stefs?
I like the stefs and it does the job okay but regardless if you use the stefs or morosso can, the real important factor is the lines and fittings. The can isn't much good if the lines are trapping at all.
Here is S197 PCV 101:
Follow this closed loop PCV system in your mind. Our cars draw air IN to the passenger side cam cover. This air comes from the intake tube AFTER it has passed through the MAF sensor so it has been cleaned by the air filter and metered by the MAF meter. This air circulates through the motor and is sucked OUT of the drivers side cam cover and into the the intake manifold BEHIND the throttle body. This suction draws oil vapor with it from the crankcase and this oil will contaminate the Air/Fuel mixture, create burnt oil deposits on your pistons and valves, and put a nasty coating on your supercharger intercooler if you have one. Not to mention shortening the life of your $90.00 spark plugs and gunking up your throttle body not to mention other more sinister long term possibilities.
So, you put an Air/Oil separator in the line that runs from the Drivers side cam cover to the intake manifold. Spend the money and do it correctly! Don't skimp and get the thimble sized glass one (like the junk steeda one posted in the thread) because it will fill too quickly and become a maintenance issue. Don't try to save money and get a "catch can" (like the SHM 2V one ham asked about in this thread) because it is cheaper. It will require modification to work properly. Get a good Air/Oil separator and plumb it properly.
Now you don't have to use this parts list and some complete kits like the stefs are good units. But if you want the balls best, here's the recipe...
#5123 Stef's -12an air/oil separator 98.00 Shipping and Handling 14.00
Summit Racing: MOR-63401 3" can bracket 6.95 SPE-3260 5/8" clamps (qty-2) 13.90 EAR-403010ERL 3ft -10 Perform-O-Flex hose 32.39 EAR-9892120ERL Female -12 to Male -10 reducer (qty-2) 33.50 EAR-812010ERL -10 120* swivel-seal hose end 25.95 EAR-800110ERL -10 straight swivel-seal hose end 10.95 Shipping and Handling 10.95
Total $246.59
i did the Moroso can set up, the parts are as above. the only difference between the Moroso and the Steph's is you need the reducers for the Moroso bc the the Moroso can has 12 AN connections and the hose is 10 AN.

i ordered everything from jegs, so the parts were not exactly the same as above. Moroso can can bracket 3"-3.25" 3 ft. 10 AN stainless braided hose 2 female to male 12 AN to 10 AN reducers 2 10 AN swivel seal hose ends (one straight and one 120 degrees) and i reused the stock fittings/clamps to fit to the valve cover and intake.

i used a hand saw. it wasnt the neatest job, but then i trimmed the excess SS with a scissors. but getting that SS hose in the fitting was a major PITA, little holes and blood in all my finger tips. there are cutters and fitters you can buy that do the job very well. or you can forgo the SS line and get some 10 AN black hose from a parts store, but i tried NAPA, and they didnt have that, so i went w/ the SS braided line. but if you can find some black hose i think it might fit easier and cut easier too, but wont look as nice but will function the same.

I got some oil/fuel multi-purpose hose frm NAPA but that **** is rigid as hell. I barely have enough on the stock connectors to allow a hose clamp to bite. I might just use this until I start dressing the engine bay. Function over form I've been using that little Steeda separator for over a year now and it's worked pretty good - it just fills up too fast.

Thanks.
If you want the Stef's can with the 10AN fittings, order directly from Stef's and tell them exactly what you want and what you are doing. The Moroso will do the same job but will require 12AN to 10AN adapters. One of the problems with the adapters is the couple of additional inches added to the fittings.
The confusion with the Stef's cans mentioned in the early posts of this thread was due to Summit. I know because I was in the middle of it. The Stef's cans Summit was selling had female connections, not the 10AN male connections mentioned in the beginning of this thread. Stef's can make the cans with almost any fittings you want--want the same thing as the Moroso? Easy, order with 12AN male fittings, but why, get the 10AN fittings from Stef's and you can cut two components from your parts list.
As far as cutting the braided hose I havent done it yet, but I have seen the masonry chisel and aluminum block trick. Seems to work well but I will just going to use a dremel with a cutting wheel. Should work fine.
2 weeks and I will have this mod complete and pics.
