I'm going to be installing the Moroso can this spring, I read somewhere you need to put a check valve in the line when FI, is this true?

I think I am going to try and mount the can on that tab on the strut tower.  It would basically be right in the middle of where it has to run.  I will see what I can do.

What is summits return policy (yes I am lazy to go look and at work) If I bought an extra section and didnt need it would they take it back?

I might just use some fuel line as a stop gap if I have to order more.

Thanks,

No check valve is required, as the PCV line should go to the suction side of the compressor.

I don't think any air is being pushed back through the throttle body.

I think summit will take anything back.  They are like the Kmart or Walmart of high performance.

I don't think there's room to mount the can on that tab, pretty sure I looked at that.

Not everyone has a whipple type supercharger. I have a vortech and I think a check valve of some kind would be required there. Let me know if I'm wrong because I'm looking to install some type of oil air separator.

Well everyone should, problem solved.

I assume the pcv valve will work as a check valve up to a certain psi, but i'm not positive on that.  If i had a centri or turbo, i wouldn't want any of my boost being wasted pressurizing my catch can.  I'd probably install some sort of check valve right off the intake manifold, but i'm not sure what sort of check valve you'd want to use.

I assume that my pcv system is always evacuating gases from the crank case, even at wide open throttle.  Now with a centri or turbo adding a check valve will prevent the pcv system from working under boost, so you'd have to have one on the passenger side as well or just eliminate that all together.

I guess my next question is, has anyone added an oil separator that has the Paxton s/c; did you add a check valve and what did you use ? I know there are quite a few Paxton stang's out there, have you had any problems not haveing an oil seperator ?

so.. even though im not blown.. is this worth the time/money for just my bolt on status?...

and whats the deal with just a oil breather filter on top of the PCV valve and deleting the hose from the PCV to the plenum.. would i just have to change that filter instead of cleaning or draining the tank you guys are putting on..

and by putting a filter in place and plugging the nipple that the hose used to plug into, what does that do as far as breathing.. i mean im guessing i loose the suction of the air from the PCV since the "vaccuum" is no longer there.. and a guy about a page or two ago, replaced both valve covers with filters and deleted both lines..

just a little confused, and dont want to make any mistakes.. thanks for the help

would i personally do a air/oil separator, if
i was N/A.....yes.

if doing the [breather filters] was the way to go, then
CK aka MODADDICT , would have said so.

the killer has decades of experience with this type
of stuff and i am trusting his judgement on this....

I wouldnt delete the PCV system myself for stock or mild forced induction.  I have read some stuff that when people go over 15psi they have to delete it.  I will cross that bridge when I get there.  One of these days I will have to set aside some time to order it.  I am either working or posting on here.  I need better time management skills.

No offense, but it looks just like the cans they sell on ebay for $15

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Oil-Catch-Can-Tank-HONDA-Civic-Del-Sol-Si-universal-New_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ133200QQihZ017QQitemZ270214326438QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVW#ebayphotohosting

I wouldn't waste my money on any of those.  Also the tubing they come with is likely to collapse under vacuum.  It will probably work fine at first, but once it heats up a few times it will soften and collapse.

After much research, this is what I ended up with

http://www.amazon.com/Megan-Racing-MR-OCT-Catch-Tanks/dp/B000SJSV2M/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=automotive&qid=1204294652&sr=1-1

Very high quality unit.  Was able to squeeze it in just behind the stock air box.  Much cheeper than what most of you guys have been going with.  Was not able to use sight glass due to space.  Ran drain line under car for drainage each time I change oil.  Again very high quality for price I paid.  I will try and get picture of install this weekend.

Why not buy that catch can and replace the tubing?  Is there anything wrong with that can?

sure you could do something along
those lines....

i believe modaddict recommends what he does,
because it's 100% effective. he's not interested
in 1/2 ass setups and trying to save money.

i know, because i tried a 1/2 ass setup initially
when i started this thread and the killer shot
it down within a few minutes

the catch can keeps your engine bay from
collecting oil film and filters the air before
returning for combustion

I honestly thought there was some type of valve under the cam cover.  So it's just a hole with a baffle?  I guess I don't have to worry about it sticking shut.

Well here is my reasoning.  1. it doesn't have anything inside to filter the air, so some oil is going to get past it.  2. it looks to have a lot more places for a vacuum leak to form.  the can I had before had a rubber oring on the top and bottom and the thing leaked at the screw holes that held the top on.  I like the stefs can because it only has the seal on the top which is a flat piece of rubber and with AN fittings you shouldn't have to worry about them leaking.  All the other connections are welded in.
