Shelby never made a production coupe in the usa there was some in mexico and 2 prototype cars.Yes loose the huge wheel spacers there a wreck waiting to happen.
Shelby only produced two coupes both in 68, one called the "Green Hornet" that survives today, and the other "Little Red", that met its fate in the crusher. As far as I know, these are the only ones ever built. I have never seen that stamping in a quarter window and would be interested in seeing a photo.
thanks for all the comments! yes my hinges are sprung but as a college student i can only afford so much, the wheels *dont kill me* are off a chevy and i acquired them free of charge and the spacers are 2.5in making them sit even. so no one has heard of this? i can describe a little better when you take out your rear quarter window tracks window and all the actual metal bracket that holds the window slide rails and actually bolts to the framework of the car is what is stamped shelby
Agreed.. I'm in the process of converting our 67 coupe with the Shelby front end and rear. In doing this I have done a pile of research and the only 2 coupes produced by Shelby was Little Red and The Green Hornet. The later while finished by Shelby never actually got tagged as a true Shelby and remains a Mustang GT. It was a prototype they (Shelby) built for testing Independent Rear Suspension and Electronic Fuel Injection. It was has the EXP500 rocker stripes. The Little Red was an experimental Shelby Notchback.
Those are the only 2 documented 68 Shelby Coupes. Both were to be crushed after their testing and its been reported that Little Red was however the Green Hornet survived. It still exists today.
agreed, i dont believe i have a shelby im just curious as to how shelby parts got into my car, i bought it unmolested from the original owner, the tear down i did was the first the car had ever seen. but everyone i ask nobody knows.... and heres a little more eye candy, i know its not 100% complete restored but mind you i bought this car when i was 14 and am the only person to touch a wrench to it. high school and college financial reasons will not permit me to spend where i would like to.
ohh, if it was me, and I couldnt find an answer after talking to every one i could think of (such as this) I would start looking for Ford contact info. cusomer service of something, and just start asking where to find hisorical produciton info. mabeye ford has a classic info log somewhere. try lookin on the ford website for contacts, and just start asking around
If you are really that interested in this then I'd suggest pulling the parts and getting a few GOOD pics of them and the stamps. Then post the images here to see what people have to say.
If this doesn't produce any insite then I'd contact Ford Customer Assistance Center @ 1-800-392-FORD. They will not be able to assist you directly, however they can take your information request and forward it to the Ford Research Department. It takes 1 to 2 days for their Research department to call you back. I just went through this for a different matter eariler this week and got a call back the next day.
Being Shelby parts Ford may or may not be able to assist you. If not then you could also try calling Shelby International @ 310-914-1843 and asking if they could look into this. Keep in mind that you'll likely have to be very persistant in your calls. Politeness goes a long way and if the first person can't help ask who can. If they don't know ask to speak to a supervisor or management (likely need to leave your number for a call back) and see if they could steer you in the right direction.
Best of luck

OK, after thinking about this for a day or so, I think I have seen this stamping or actually cast in the rear window frame bottom (or stamped before it was chromed) on some 67's and 68's. I'm not sure why its there but I don't think it has any connection to the GT Shellbys. It seems like its was on a 68 coupe that I had apart.
