Almost any tire going through a pool of standing water can hydro-plane. But with the absence of substantial tread there is no where for the water to go so the tire floats. I don't want to look at the photos... but I know I will. Glad there were no injuries. Maybe you could sue the landowner for having barber wire so close to the road. Well OK...

Cruise control and slick conditions (especially with tires not made for rain) = dangerous conditions.
Not to be an ass moose, but Im going to say having the cruise control on was 90% to blame.

Agreed.
You never drive with the Cruise Control on during wet conditions, be it wet road after a rain or during rain/snow.

Sorry to hear that you got your ride messed up.

don't ever drive in the rain with drag radials

Had Nittos drag radials on the car for over a year. Driven long distances in the rain and storms. Never had a problem. With Nitto tread about gone, have changed to M&H which I see is what you have for drag radials. They're known to have better traction than the Nittos at the track BUT evacuate water less efficiently. Only reason I'm putting them on for street use is that the commute to work is 0.6 miles through a 25 mph zone. Even so, your unfortunate experience is a reminder to be very careful with the M&H on a wet road.

I don't think you'll have a problem at 25mph, but let the roads dry if you want to go 60.

Here's some pics.  Like I said the only dents are on the drivers side fender, door and passenger rear fender. The front and back bumpers are most likely unfixable.  Amazingly, i see no scratches on any windows.

You know that dull painfull ache you get from a kick in the nuts, I imagine it feels alot the same . But the rims are cheaper than feet, fenders cheaper than arms, and you cant buff skin.
glad to see your ok

Damn, Moose, sorry to hear about the stang.  Glad you and the W.I.F.E. are ok.

Like others have said, it can be fixed up.  It looks like there is lots of COSMETIC damage, but no MAJOR damage.  That's good, at least.  It shouldn't ride any differently or feel differently when you get her back.

DR's in the rain - yeah, a buddy of mine runs a 2.6L KB with Nitto DRs full-time.  We got caught out in a storm once, and he wouldn't go over 30 MPH the whole way.  Made for a long drive, seeing as we were about 75 miles from home..  I think that was one of the only times I was ever able to outrun him (I had the stock BFG's on)..  LOL

Wow, that sucks, seems like there is damage everywhere! New fender and paint for the most part. Like Frostbyte said, good thing it wasnt a vert!
