Somehow I overlooked this part of the forum? Anyway, I'm 17 and I'm from Picayune, Mississippi. It's a pretty good town, all things considered. I currently drive a 1999 v6 mustang, and on occasion my 1994 jeep grand cherokee. I'm really happy with them, though I intend to sell my mustang very soon to buy a better mustang. There isn't a lot to the introduction except that I enjoy to drive for the feel of driving, and I'm not much of a racer. I rarely race even when provoked, but there is the occasional nuisance that just irritates me. That's pretty much all there is to my introduction. Thank you for reading!

Isn't picayune near Keesler. I was stationed at Keesler in 91-92.

Well honestly, I'm not positive of that fact. But what type of force did you serve in? I forgot to add, I don't know because I've only lived here about a month. I used to live in Slidell, Louisiana, and moved here to go to college.

Keesler Air Force Base is actually in Gulfport Ms. I was just thinking that Picayune was nearby maybe not. Anyway, welcome dude.

Thanks for the welcome. It probably is near Gulfport, MS. I'm still learning my way around Picayune, sadly enough. You'd think by the size I could at least take note of directions. Oh yeah, I checked out your cardomain page, you have a beautiful looking 05', a great color.

Picayune, Mississippi is right on the Louisiana state line on Hwy 59. It's not too far from Gulfport. Keesler is located in Biloxi, MS. I am currently stationed at Camp Shelby, Mississippi, which is right outside Hattiesburg, MS.

BTW Welcome to the forums.

Thanks for the welcome, and also thanks for the information. I'm not too familiar with the area. I guess I'll have to pull out a map, and start studying in case I ever need to make a trip to somewhere else (probably quite a few months from now). I hope everything is going well for you at the camp, 1990mustanggt.

Joseph

Edit: I read some about your car, and I've done a little looking for things about 1990's, I would assume yours has the 5.0 motor? Unless of course you've replaced the motor, which is possible. How does it handle? I'm interested to know, if you'd like to tell me.

Welcome to the forums! You sound a lot like me, I don't race my baby- I guess for me it's not worth the risk of getting in trouble and i only have a v6 anyways. Still love my stang more than anything though.

Best of luck on selling and finding a new stang. :)

I've signed up on other mesageboards before because I was curious. I have to say that everyone has been incredibly friendly. I hardly ever see this, haha. Anyway, I'm a really cautious person, and I'd like to *think* I'm a good driver, hopefully anyway.

As of recently I've been posting an ad in the "Times Picayune" for some GT parts, I just haven't got around to posting the mustang itself. I'm only asking 5000 for it, so hopefully someone will bite the hook. I think I read somewhere on these boards that people are asking 6-7k for them. I hope you wishing me luck helps out. There are some problems with it as far as I know, so I figure it's best to get them checked out, and sell the car at a lower price. I'd rather people knew if there were anything wrong with the car before I attempted to sell it (not to mention I'd like to know as well). Even though I'd like to try and fix things myself, I think I'll leave it to a mechanic until I become one myself, haha. It'd be a health hazard if I were to fix the problems. And this is a bit late, but thank you for the welcome. As I said above, everyone is very friendly here. I really appreciate it.

Joseph

Better was definitely the wrong word to use, heh. I suppose I just want a car that is reliable for going to college, I want to get this one looked at because I think there are some problems. I've decided to already drop the price from the normal going rate, or from what I've heard anyway. If the problem is too serious, and I can't fix it myself... I intend to drop the price even more. I really don't want to sell a car that is a safety hazard to it's driver. I'm already accustomed to the way it drives, and can handle all of it's flaws, but someone else may not be able to cope with the problems nearly as well (whatever they may be... the 'motor running hot' is the first mystery to solve). I'll take it to a mechanic, and then list all of the problems. If it's not too much to fix, I might do the repairs, and sell the car afterwards.

I'm the second owner of the car, the first was a girl from Lafayette, I believe it was. She hadn't taken very good care of it. I decided I was going to break the chain of mistreatment, and make the car look better. And I did, but I'm not a mechanic, and my dad doesn't give me money anymore. At least not outside of the fact that I work for him, heh. My little paycheck may not be enough to fix it, but I sure hope it is. If not, like I said above, I'll just drop the price accordingly using the mechanics estimate/information.

All of the above, and the fact that I'm in a conflict with myself about getting an automatic. On one hand, I'll be in heavy traffic driving to college, and on the other hand I won't have as much fun driving. It's a matter of efficiency and want. The car won't necessarily be better, but it will be a whole lot easier to drive every day. Lose lose situation, at least that's how I view it.

I suppose I don't consider any mustang I'll ever get better than this one. It's just that an automatic just may be better for me until I graduate. What a complicated web that has been weaved, haha.

I'm really enjoying doing all of this research here. It's really taught me a lot, hopefully I can put some of it to use. Thanks for your welcome, Grn N Gry 50!

Hey Joseph - imagine my suprise to see Picayune in here! I lived in Picayune from 1977-1984. At 205 Glenwood to be precise - that's 1 block south of "the boulevard", corner of Glenwood and sixth. I've only been back three times since, and those were while passing through. What a trip - hope everyone is treating you right over there and good luck with everything.

Cheers!
Dave

Hey Dave, thanks for all of the luck. So far I've only had bad luck with people here. I've met a lot of people who aren't very hospitable. It comes with the territory I suppose, but it sure would be nice if they were kind. Being from Slidell may be the problem, who know? With some luck I'll eventually get used to this place!

Man, I'm sorry to hear about all the bad luck - I guess those folks can be kinda cliquish. If you get bored some day swing out to the convenience store on the corner of Beach and Palestine. See if Jim Archer is behind the counter (it's his store) and tell him Dave Anderson sent you to say hi. He's a bit older than you, but he may have some tips about where to hang out around town... maybe. It's a long shot, but he's a great guy. Sorry I couldn't help out more - that town has changed quite a bit since I left 20+ years ago.

I have yet to know how it handles. I bought the car with nothing in it but a block. I'm just Resto-modding it. Here is a list of things I have bought for it.

stock re-built block.
Trick flow twisted wedge heads 2.02/1.60 61cc chamber, 170 intake runner, 66 exhaust runners.(Ported and polished)
Trick flow hydraulic roller camshaft 221IN/225EX 0.499/0.510 lift.
Noisy geardrive
Trick flow full 1.6 roller rockers.
Trick flow upper and lower intake.(Ported and polished)
MAC longtube headers
FoMoCo 24lb injectors
BBK 70mm TB
Granitelli 75mm MAF cal.24#'s and CAI
BBK CAI
70mm EGR spacer
C-4 trans w/ 10inch Stall.
FoMoCo 4.10 gears
Taylor 10.4 blue wire set
MSD Pro-Billet Ready-To-Run EFI Distributor
Summit high output coil
Battery relocation
255lph fuel pump
BBK fuel press reg.

That's about all I can think of for now. I also have tons of pics if you want to see them.

Mike

Don't worry about the details. I just took a vacation with my dad and it's raised my morale in this town, heh. Beach and Palestine? Is that towards the intersection on the west side of town? A gas station paralell to the supermarket, would that be the one? if not, I'm totally lost. Thanks for the heads up on the town. The only thing I've become acquainted with so far is "Smoothie King" and their employees (a protein shake daily).

And hey 1990mustanggt, sorry about the long wait for the reply, also. As I said above I spent a week on vacation and didn't get a chance to reply right away. It'd be awesome if I could see some pictures of the car. I can send you my e-mail if you want or you can post it here (is that allowed?). Just drop me a line when you get the chance.

Thanks for the welcome, StangMang. I got your PM just a few minutes ago. What you're going to do sounds awesome.

Joseph
