Someone was telling me that wax in paste form (the hard stuff) lasts longer and does a better job protecting your car than the same wax in liquid form. Is there any truth to this?
If you're talking a carnauba product, I'd say yes. I seems to be easier to get a uniform coat.
I actually enjoy using paste -- or at least both Mothers pastes, and I'll use either one depending on the job: Carnauba Cleaner Wax and Pure Carnauba Wax. Both are cake waxes and soften easily.
Guys, after using Zaino for the past eight years, I threw away all of my other commercial paste and liquid waxes. This stuff lasts at least six months and is the most reflective I've ever found. It is a polymer liquid that goes on extremely thin. One ounce does the whole car twice. Just helped a friend do his new Z06 (black) with the stuff and he was stoked. Go to the Zainobros site and look at the pics of the customers cars. After using it on everthing I drive or fly, I can tell you it is second to none. You can only get it through the internet or by mail order. I'll get off of my soapbox...I just wanted to share what I've learned. Let me if you have any questions. J

I used Zaino in the past and I just wasn't happy with it. To me it gives a lot of gloss but doesn't have the depth a lot of other products have. Also it was a lot of trouble to mix and wait for everything to properly cure. I got so much more depth and wetness with the products I use now.

+1--- & I thought it was just me/ I didn`t like it all that much, but that stuff has a cult like following on some car forums--& those folks will hound you off the forum if you utter one disperaging word about Sal`s products ( Sorry Corvetteforums.com)

I really don`t think anything lasts six months unless you keep it in the garage 24/7, more like 30 days.

washing, and waxing my car is therepy for me.... :) I really dont mind doing it every other week. it gets me out of the house and is relaxing. that said i probably over wax my car... is that bad? I normally use all Meguiars NXT products, wash it, then wax it with the paste wax. about every 4 months I claybar it, polish it, then wax it.
Ive tried Zanio, but really diddnt like it much. Mothers worked ok, but once again, I just preferr the NXT stuff. Eventually I am going to give Justin my Credit Card and tell him to send me what I should get... No clue what I need.... But for now, Im a NXT guy. :)

Nothing wrong with that approach, but make sure you chill a little with the polish...you could literally polish the clear coat off...and that's not pretty!

I say polish maybe once or twice a year, tops...
it depends on what type of polish he is using, an abrasive or a chemical polish. he says he uses mostly nxt stuff, i dont think theres an abrasive polish offered in the NXT line, and if there is it's going to be very very mild

You're right, of course. It is a free country and you can use whatever you want. What ever works for you and makes you feel good about your ride is mighty fine. Discussions regarding long chain polymers, extremely flat matrix properties, and UV blocking need not happen if you find something you like. Go for it.
