And you've tried to do the same sinse they've let you back in here again. The name has changed but it's the same Codyss bull sh*t. Just reread your responses in the cobra threads. Even your buddy redstanger told you you were ruining the thread. And he's your friend! Nobody disrespected your cobalt SS. Theres a guy on here named IWHINE. Ask him if he feels any disrespect for his Cobalt SS. They disrespected you because of the attitude you brought with your dogged defense of that car. I'm not going to argue with you anymore but here's a little friendly advice. Check yourself once in a while and think about what you type. Your not always going to be able to beat your opinion into other peoples head. It's a Mustang sight not a chevy sight. And like you said It would be easy to poke fun at my car yet the majority of the S/S members like me and have respect for my car. Theres a reason for that. And it isn't because the car is quick.

I think the general public has already spoken, the GTO was dropped due to poor sales. As were other GM vehicles due to the same thing.
I think the Ls1/ls2 engines are fantastic but don't wrap it in a medicore package or "me too" body and tell me its great. GM body designs and their interiors (with 6 feet of dash 3 feet deep) is my problem with them. GTO was no different.

the GTO wasn't really designed to be an all out drag car. it was meant to be an all around good performer, not something for killing all at the strip. before you go out screaming that the goat is slow, take one to a road course and run it good and hard. it'll walk away from Mustangs, and Camaros. the only real down side to the car is it's weight, it just needs a diet.
It really wont. It's to heavy and leans in turns. Weight is the enemy of performance no matter if your going in a str. line or around the curves. They have run them in SCCA racing but thats far fronm the stock suspension their using..
have you ever driven a GTO on a road course?? i have, and it moved a lot better than you'd believe. i was blowing away Stang's and Camaro's like no other. (btw this was at Road America) you just have to drive them with a more tail out style, not completely drifting, but close
I can see what you are saying Derf00 but at the same time some bought a GTO because it was GM's only offering other than the Vette.
The GTO was a failed attempt and should have much better than a rebadged and bumpered Holden.
After I had mine for a while I wished I had kept my Camaro SS.
I would've passed on the GTO if I were in your shoes. Especially with the Camaro whispers that started when the GTO was released. Personally I think the new Camaro is a great step in the positive direction. I hated the space-ship look and feel of the last generation. GM still effed up the interior though on the new Maro with the damn football field sized dash
Right now I'm torn between waiting for the 'newer' Mustangs in 09 or waiting another 6-12 months beyond that for the camaro and checking it out. I'm not going to be a fool and buy the first model year of a completely redesigned car.
Holden is good in its own right and I don't blame Holden. I blame GM since they took a perfectly good holden car and GMed it. GM recently did the same with Saturn. Saturn used to be unique to Saturn, now it's just a rebadged Chevy Cavalier and other Chevy product with a Saturn Badge.
I'm waiting for Pontiac to disappear like oldsmobile did a few years ago. Too many rebaged cars with little or no differentiation between product lines. That's the real GM mistake.

That's a GM trade-mark It does take some getting used to but is fun.

Here we go again. The GTO and S197 are both great cars. They are different, and yet the same. It is personal preference. If you like the look and feel of one, that is your choice. I like the feel of mine. Not to mention, with 4K I can walk 99% of lightly to moderately modded LS2 GTO's, and my car still costs less then a new GTO.
To the OP that said Bluebeast was just as bad: Bluebeast is an awesome guy, knows his stuff, and has proof to back up all claims. His SRT will murder 90% of the guys on here. So what if it is a neon. I don't look at it that way. I look at it as a Super Neon.
