All I can say is owned an LS2 GTO, and in my opinion, that engine belongs in a truck. It makes nice power, but has awful NVH.

I do not miss my old GTO.

I never dynoed it, but it was faster than my GTO, when I got my GTO, and my GTO ran a 13.03@108.9 stock.

I can't believe the people here who claim to have a Y chromosome, yet judge a performance car on whether or not it's "pretty." That is something that girls do, not men.
Man law.

Give us all a break, please!

I have yet to drive the LS2 GTO, but from my experience driving the LS1 GTO, that motor needs to stay in the Camaro and Trans Am.  I can only imagine how the LS2 GTO pulls, but I'm sure the weight does weigh it down.  Hell I need to take a day and go to a few dealerships and test drive an LS2 GTO, Evo, Sti and SRT-4, just to see which one I like.

Because those are respectable times for a 300 hp car, not 350 and 400 hp cars.

The IRS has a lot to do with the ****ty launching, too.

ERRM... WEIGHT... Heard of a Terminator before? How about a Lightning.... That has to be the worst comment I've ever heard.

couldnt agree more with you, i guess the terminator sucks at launching too cuz they weight about the same as gto dont they?

Ever heard of a solid axel swap before? Any terminator/Lightning owner that is serious about drag racing will swap in a solid axel, or dump a bunch of money into the IRS, at the least.

Also, all IRS's aren't created equal. The Goats IRS is just not that good stock, end of story. Doesn't mean that it can't be made better, though.

What the hell is NVH?

And what kind of statement is that anyway?

Belongs in a truck my ass.

NVH is noise, vibration, harshness. The LS2 feels very unrefined to me. I've driven LS1 F-bodies and did not come away with that impression, but for some reason in the GTO it does feel and sound like my old Silverado.

It makes inmpressive power, it's relatively efficient, etc, but I simply am not impressed with it in the GTO.

As for your ass belonging in a truck....okay, thanks for sharing.

Thank you for clearing that up, I had no idea what high performance engine should feel like. Particularly after owning about a dozen classic musclecars, an 06 GT, and the aforementioned 05 GTO.

The distinction here is that I'm entitled to my opinion. If it bothers you to the extent that you have to personalize it and resort to name calling, all I can say is try not to let it bother you.

I owned a GTO, I didn't care for it and stated the reasons why. No skin off my nose if you happen to disagree.

Maybe you just aren't used to what real horsepower feels like. Old muscle cars were slow and the 3V is no high performance engine.

Both LS2's I had/have feel nice and smooth. I have also had 2 LS1's which were no different in feel.

Sounds like you belong in a Maxima or Buick.

Oh yea I am so mad, seriously I could care less. This is an internet forum not real life. I almost feel sorry for people like you who cannot seperate real world from e-world.

I love how some cry babies just refuse to grow up. Like I said my Cobalt ran a 13.7 which was a full second slower than my previous Camaro SS so who cares. People just got all upset because I said that was good enogh to waste a 99-04 GT.

And guess what it was....

Clearly some of you just cannot move on and will always remain stuck in moments on the internet.

You want make fun of my other cars now too, my 2002 Camaro SS, 2006 GTO and 2007 C6?

I'm not here to argue with you, and frankly the attempted insults fall on deaf ears. You take opinions much too personally. Glad you're happy with your LS2's, it simply doesn't do much for me in the GTO. I can't imagine being critical of your opinion for liking the LS2, so why not move on?

Moreover, I've owned several cars with significantly more horsepower than my 05 LS2 GTO, including my current modified 06 GT, which is putting down around 600 whp. Funny you mention Buick, as a matter of fact I did own a Buick (Grand National) nicely modified, and also faster than my 05 GTO. Perhaps I do belong in a Buick, I certainly liked the Grand National much more than my GTO.

Frankly, I haven't read a salient thought from you yet, but if you wish to take on me and the rest of the world for having an opposing opinion, have at it, and enjoy. Personally, I don't see any point in embarassing you any further.
