View Full Version : Your Opinions on Louvers

I am a new owner of a Mustang.
I'm considering adding louvres.
A search returned pages after pages of topics on louvres, but my A.D.D. prevents me from reading them all.
I would like your opinions on louvres, whether you have them or not.
But better that you have them.

1. Any visual limitation for the driver? If so how much?
2. Easy to install (not referring to the flush-mounts, as I'm NOT going with that)? Removal?
3. Overall impression?

Thank you!

I'm waiting to get my Cervinis 1/4 louvers on in the spring, those are more of a scoop than a louver as you can't see out of them. But I must say, that I think our cars are bare without some sort of 1/4 window louver on them.

Installation of mine and most is fairly easy, all that is needed is some 3m double sided auto tape, just make sure they are lined up right before commiting tape to window.

They look great. The side windows are easy to put on. The mrt rear window louvers take a little longer but its worth it.

I have the roush louvers on my car and personally I question weather I like them or not everyday. same with my cervini's spoiler. there is a slight limitation in sight but it really doesnt affect you driving wise. If you think they look good than go for it, the installation on all of them should be super easy except for the silver horse one's, those require a bit more skill. but yeah. It's totally up to you though, I probably just think things over WAY to much. :)

merdix9, I like your louvers.
The thing I like about louvers is that they enhance the slope of the roof line.
They not only make the car look retro but also tough.

that is true, I guess what makes me not want to have louvers is seeing how good some peoples cars look without them such as CAUTION, or STANGSKELETON.

I have the Roush louvers and really like them. At a cruise last summer I saw a few
cars with them and couldn't wait to get mine. I think the car looks a little bare
without the louvers. The scoops are cool too.

The thing that makes it hard is I have seen some cars that look awesome with them, and some that look terrible. I don't know what it is about them, maybe they look good with other mods, but not good plain.

I am still undecided on them yet.

I saw a white GT for sale with scoops ( window and side) Awesome !!!
I plan on doing that on my white GT when I get one. I saw a red GT in a parking lot last
night. No mods....kinda plain.....and dirty. :(

The Roush louvers are my favorites. Santa brought me a set but I haven't had a chance to put them on yet. I'm a little worried I won't like losing some of my vision through the quarter windows but the only way to tell will be to put 'em on and try 'em out. If I decide I don't like them I'm sure I wouldn't have a problem selling them to someone else. I'm hoping to get them on later this week.

yeah, thats the thing that got me wondering about louvers also. how much do you lose, vision wise? is it even significant? the roush and scoops are my favorite.

I like mine. Small distraction but you get used to it. I have stage 3 motorsports.

They are good just have to use your side mirrors and you will be fine. That's all I use but I have no choice cause I can't see anything out this back cause of that spoiler being right in my line of sight

Adjust your mirror so you can see the side of your car, check mirror, then check out your side window.
Simple as that. You'll love 'em when you get them on. I had to take mine off for a few day's, long story short the dealer thought my rattle was the louver and it wasn't. I had to threaten the hubby that I was going to put them on if he wasn't.
He put them on real quick ! [8D]

i have roush, i love them..visability from the inside is almost nothing once they are on but seriously, why do you need to look out that window?, between the rear view and the side mirror you'll see if anyone is along side you trailing alittle

As a motorcyclist, I always take extra care to look for motorcyclists when I'm in my car. They're smaller, and sometimes side and rear mirrors don't catch them. Also, turning my head is how I learned to drive a car. :)

It's not really while driving down the road that I'm worried about. I look out mine every time I'm backing out of a parking spot (which for me is alot). For the last few days I've consciously tried NOT to look out my quarters in prep for putting the louvers on and it's going to be hard losing that window I think. We'll see.

QFT. I really don't even use the quarter windows unless I'm backing out. That's when you have to be careful because you can't see to your sides very well. But during normal driving you can see behind you through them. Of course, I also have bubble mirros, so I rarely look through them.

I can see through my louvers enough to tell if there's a car in my blindspot.

I just got my flush mount louvers installed and I love them. I got the ones from SHR and I have very little obstruction from the product.

I like all the louvers I have seen, especially with side scoops. I have my 1/4 windows blacked out pretty well with tint and I like the nice clean look of it. I'm trying to stick with the "Eleanor look".....and she didn't have window louvers.

Just my personal opinion, I like the look of our cars without the louvres. I don't think visibility is much of an issue; you don't see much out of those windows anyway.

EBR I love your car... it reminds me of the same paint job I had on my last car mixed with chrome and a body kit... that GT is smokin hot.

I don't know about you guys but I find myself using my quarters aLOT in traffic and while backing up. Traffic is easier with them since my last car has so big of a blind spot on either side. With the mustang it's ALOT better. I can actually SEE out the back and with the additional view from the quarters, it eliminates any doubt when I have to make a quick lane change. On the back from SD, driving during the busy hours back home it's easy to just glance over your shoulder and bust a move to get out of your lane to avoid a potential idiot case accident waiting to happen (someone cutting you off going about 30mph slower). Peripheral vision while looking at your mirror then a quick double check with a half turn of the head over the shoulder and you are good to go. If I get any louvers for my windows it's going to have to be SHR louvers... even with how much more expensive they may be. To me, being able to glance into what would be a blindspot if covered, is important to me when driving and having to make a quick decision. Especially so when you only have about a couple of yards to react to an accident in front of you.

i have the cervinis louvers and i love them...the install was easy just make sure that you put them on when its warm outside this will help them fit to your car,and stick better.mine are made not to be removed, as far as the visibillity goes i never used that window any way so i didnt notice a difference after i put them on.
a lot of people have the roush louvers. theyare nice bc thay can be removed to clean the window and you can buy them pre painted i didnt get them though bc it wasnt the look that i wanted. all in all though i love my cervinis louvers though. i wouldnt trade'em
