Default Did Saleen update the weight of their cars?

I was browsing the Saleen site today and it says the 3V weighs 3,550lbs. I think it used to say something in the 3300-3400lbs area. Maybe they finally weighed them? What do you guys think? Remember, the 3V is probably 100-150lbs lighter than the s/c

Default RE: Did Saleen update the weight of their cars?

I was told by a Texas Hot Rod installer that the additional weight of the Supercharger, intercooler and coolant, minus total weight of parts replaced by the install added an additional 75lbs or so to the car. Does this sound correct. My stock Mustang GT premium package fully loaded minus sub woofer was delivered at a weight of 3502lbs.

If I add on weight of added suspension parts, heavier wheels, minus lighter suspension upgrades, plus the SC instal at an added 75 or 80lbs, I think I'm at about 3640 or so. Anyone have any corrective data on this idea?

It seems a mystery what the Saleen cars actually weigh now. Jerad wasn't fired the last I talked to him, but he's at the speed lab I guess.

What does the complete Saleen suspension weigh as opposed to stock? The SC minus replaced parts? Ball Park? Thanks, Erik

I think the E cars are around 3620, but I've been too lazy to weigh mine.

Published specs for the 3-Valve have remained 3550 since 2005.

A great historical reference is available here: http://www.soec.org/literature/specsheets/

The published weight for 2007 & 2008 for the S281 SC were 3620, but for 2006 it was 3550, so there may have been a typo or oversight there, or they dropped some weight somewhere along the way and put it back on more recently.

Default RE: Did Saleen update the weight of their cars?

Thanks Jim D for the info. As I mentioned above, I spoke to a Texas Hot Rod installer who felt the Series VI kit minus the parts it was replacing was about 75lbs. That is almost the exact listed difference between the S281 3V 3550lbs and the S281 SC 3620lbs for the 2007 pdf's. These weights seem logical if you consider what Saleen adds to the car.

I think the S281 Extreme might be more as mentioned above with added forged internals and larger radiator. Although the aluminum driveshaft replacement might balance out those additions.

Now adding on my wider aftermarket wheels and tires, my Series VI SC, my Saleen basic suspension, my added Steeda suspension parts, minus lighter stronger aftermarket direct replacement suspension items, I estimate my car to be at 3670lbs from it's delivered stock weight of 3502lbs as a stock Mustang GT premium package minus sub woofer. This has been very helpful, thanks, Erik

Looks like the forged internals and larger radiator add 40lbs to the Extreme over the S/C as Curz just informed us. His E weighs in at 3660. Looks like Saleen's numbers are pretty close.

This has been very helpful. Thanks everyone. Compared to many other coupes or sedans, these Mustangs fully loaded for action are pretty darn light. That new Nissan going to weight over 3800 ! That includes the parachute though. Erik
