IT FELT LIKE DRIVING A GT AND WHEN I GOT ON IT THE SUPERCHARGER KICKED IN AND IT WAS SO HORIABLE IT FELT LIKE THE CAR DIDNT MOVE AND IT WAS ON LOCK DOWN IS IT ME OR IS THIS A CRAPPY CAR .MAN I SWEAR THE THE SALEEN EXTREME I HAVE IS A LOT OF CAR DAMMMMMM I CANT COMPARE THE POWER MY CAR HAS IS A TOTAL MONSTER AND BEAST WOW .THE SHELBY IS JUST A OVER PRICED JUNK UNLESS THE CAR HAS A BREAK IN PERIOD BUT I DONT THINK IT WILL MAKE A DIFFRANCE WITH THE WAY THE CAR FELT YOU CAN TELL IT HAS NO BALLS AT ALL .THE SALEEN EXTREME HAS THE LOOKS THE BALLS AND EVERYTHING ELSE SALEEN FOR LIFE LET ME KNOW WHAT YOU THINK GUYS AM I TRIPPIN OR WHAT LOL MAN COBRA LOLOL THAT SNAKE SHOULD BE REPLACED WITH A MONKEY

The Shelby has about 445+ rwhp (stock)and you have about 470+ (stock). The GT500 weighs 300-400 pounds more than your E. Your car should feel faster.

The GT500 is a formidable car when modified correctly so don't be so quick to judge it s a poor ride.

I agree that the E is abetter car but that is just my opinion. Handing is a no brainer better withthe E. On a road course with stock cars, the E would hand the Shelby its a$$.

I believe the GT500 is programmed to limit the boost the first couple hundred miles. That could have caused the "on lock down" impression you got.

If i remember right, i think that there's a 500mi or 500 cranks (key turns)break in period until you get the "full effect" of its potential........or i could be wrong

The 05-07' Extremes with forged internals probably weighs some more than my car I'm guessing 3700-3750 ? more. So the E isn't really that much lighter than the GT500 I don't think. At most 200lbs lighter.

If you add the weight bonus of 1.75/10ths of a second 0-60 plus the added 50hp(flywheel) plus faster gear ratio(4:10's) on the E car, they both have 6 speed manuals, I figure it is 5.5 to 6/10ths of a second advantage to the 05-07' Extreme in the 0-60mph than the GT500. ok but the fact is my extreme is fast as f... and the cobra didnt move felt like a gt not power what so ever the extreme ripps in all gears never get enought all gears all boost all the time and cobra felt lilke a hevy gt and even with the blower it didnt move at all i gun the car and still was like lagggg and not pull or wow or dammm ohhh nothing at all i was like what this is rubish man the saleen extreme is a lot of car i tell you response trottle and power is there every second no matter what rpm and gear the car wants to fly and tear the road apart dude

05 SC281 automatic Tranny = 3900 WGT. Half Tank of gas , big brakes, 20" x 9",20" x 10" wheels

Wow those cars are heavy. Yes I agree, since I had the Saleen/JDM upgrade, there is power in all gears all the time. Even overdrive is fast and collects speed quickly.

I'll ask as before, any one know the added weight of the seies VI kit minus the weight of the parts replaced? Erik

Each their own. Test it after the break in period and it will be faster. Not as fast as the E car but with the right mods it could be faster.

Not to get into a pi$$ing match here but how can you say a Cobra is Slow? Compared to What your E car?Your car may be faster as there is always a faster car but for you to say it is slow is incorrect.I just own aan 042 valve S281 SC car and with some slight mods andit seems pretty fast and probably does what I want or need it to do for now but for someone to say the Shelby is slow isignorant I have to say.The Shelby has it's issues I think we can all agree, just like the Saleen does as well. However overall from the Ford Factory the Shelby is still a pretty nice car and if the Saleen was not available I bet you $$ that a good % of folks on this site would probably have one if the dealerships did not do a $15-20K mark up when the car first came out. Think about it. List price $46-48K for 500 HP Shelby? Saleen same Performance 'Relatively Speaking" for 80-90K? I am talking full blown E cars here.

Chuckdoc, thank you for digging that out. That is pretty funny. Now we are looking at a 99 s351 in another post. That would then be 3 Saleens. I want that job whatever it may be.

I think we need to give folks the benefit of the doubt, but because this community knows these cars and is technicaly pretty savy to go and find old posts etc.Folks just need to be honest and keep the BS to a minimum because at the end of the day. It doesn't matter. There is no reason to BS.

Well, if Ford decided to leave a stock suspension on a car with 500 hp, so be it. They could (and should) have adjusted it. Be that as it may, the only way we can really compare the 2 cars iswithout any aftermarket upgrades, otherwise all it becomes a battle of the $$ as to which is a nicer car.
