Default 2009 Chevrolet Camaro PICS

Spycam: 2009 Chevrolet Camaro, inside and out
Shortly after we got a set of 2009 Camaro spy shots this morning -- taken somewhere between Denmark and Sweden while being trailered with a pack of Aussie-built Holdens to an arctic testing location -- Bob Lutz ordered the camouflage to be removed from all prototypes for testing of the vehicle's aerodynamics and cooling capabilities. Ed Peper, general manager of Chevrolet, then gave the world its first look at an undisguised test mule (as shown at right) on GM's FastLane blog site. Still, the spy shots of the Camaro's interior provide the first look at the production cockpit taking shape.Overall, it appears little has changed inside from the initial Camaro concept. The classically-inspired individual pods for the tachometer and speedometer are still intact, as are the four gauges mounted at the base of the center stack behind the shifter. New is the stereo interface and ventilation controls, both found on the center stack, telling us that this interior is likely just about production-ready. Other cool touches include the classic Camaro logo on the retro-designed steering wheel, vintage-look gauge faces, the swath of silver trim running from the top of the dashboard to the door panels, and the contrasting orange and black seat trim.Outside, the rear arches feature similar dramatic angle and flaring to the original concept (drawn from the classic late-1960s Camaros), and hide 20-inch wheels wearing Pirelli P-Zero rubber. The three-slat vent is still found in front of the rear wheel wells on the camouflaged cars, but not the non-camo'd version, leading us to believe that it either isn't functional or won't exist on the production car. Also interesting is that among the various Holdens, on the right of the trailer is a prototype that appears to be a Commodore SS Wagon -- a vehicle that could very well create a basis for a future Pontiac G8 Wagon in the U.S.While we're still around a year away from the new Camaro's launch, fans of the first concept should be very happy at the sight of these pictures as, thankfully, it appears that GM has shed little from the original design. And now that the test mules will be seen naked, we should be getting many more undisguised shots in the near future.

NOT diggin it. The concept was smokin, but the production model is hideous. Gotta be one of the worst interiors I've ever seen.
