For the price its the best car. has the most power VERY easy to obtain more power. with some modification handles really well. looks really good. drives REALLY good. and is extremely reliable. the only car thats even close in its class i think is the 350z but its slower ( my friend has one its at the dealership more then he has it. and now his car is lemoned after they replaced the engine for the 3rd time for oil consumption. I will NEVER in my life own a honda acura. fwd = ****. i dont understand how someone would call a fwd car sporty. its not!
Thats another thing I noticed in these reviews (C&D especially) is that they say that the stang isn't very reliable...any new car should be reliable. I have never come outside from a store wondering if my car would start.

It seems that the author, Dan Lienert, must have recently been reassigned by Forbes from their culinary and interior design review staff. I traded-in a Mercedes for a 2006 Mustang GT, and I've owned several Porsches and BMWs over the years - all fine cars, but the Mustang has nothing to appologize for. It's a blast to drive, and the fun/dollar spent ratio can't be beat. It's my daily driver and I'm having a ball modifying it. If he'd rather buy and drive a $30,000 Lexus then I wouldn't hold is automotive opinions in high regard. Either you "get it" or you don't, and he don't.
I think I'd turn to Better Homes and Gardens before Forbes if I'm looking for a car review. They should stick to studying mutual funds rather than fine cars.
On the next page he quotes this "...the power's delivery often feeling brutal." No sh*t sherlock, it's a V8 mustang. What a PUSSY!
yeah man, seriously, thats my favorite thing about my car, the fact that it will throw me back in my seat. i dont know what he's talking about expense of dignity, i love my car and im proud to drive it. ive never had anyone say anything bad about my car, just compliments

The 350Z is not slower then the Mustang. I don't know why people keep saying that. And the Z handles a lot better, so it's more than 'close'.
As for the review, I'm split. They raised some good points, but yet they also made it pretty damn obvious their biased towards refined, luxury-esque cars. But really who cares??? Is the article going to make you go and trade in your Mustang on a Lexus??? If not, don't worry about it.....

On a side note, the other day I watched a lexus tailing a ford pickup. When the pickup hit the brakes the lexus crashed into him then some guy in an SUV behind the lexus crashed into him.
not a dent on the Ford, just a cracked bumper on the SUV.
The lexus looked like someone put a soda can on the ground and stomped on it. I would never buy a lexus even if it were 10K less than the mustang.

^ But you do realize that had that been a more sever accident, the Lexus occupants would have been better protected, right??? Their crumple zones. When they crumple, they absord the impact-energy, therefore, the occupants don't have to....

the 350z IS slower. on forza motorsports show they had on speedchannel a while back they did a base line and the 06 mustang gt kicked its A** down the straight!
^ Magazine numbers don't mean anything, man. They can never drive their cars to what they're capable of. But , you'll learn a lot here. For future reference-
-2006 and back 350Z's are capable of 13.60's w/ a great driver and conditions. Times are verified and stock. Really high 13's and low 14's is the norm, though.
-2007 and up 350Z's are capable of 13.20's w/ a great driver and conditions. Times are verified and stock. Mid-high 13's is the usual.
-2005 and up Mustang GT's have been verified to run 13.40's stock, and there are some claims to a few 13.20-.30 runs, that noone can ever seem to prove for sure. But again, mid-high 13's is the norm.
The reason why so many people think the GT is automatically faster, lies in driver error. Z's are considerably harder to launch than Mustangs, and you often find a mid-40's woman/man driving an auto version of them, and not havng any idea how to drive them.
I'm not trying to be a dick, but I'm known as one of the resident 'import guys' here, and I try my best to keep a level playing field w/out being biased. I love all cars, American, Japanese, Euro, doesn't matter. But my primary interest lies in cars that are good in the twisties and on a track, and that's my primary area of knowledge, so I'm known as an 'import guy' here, and try to offer my knowledge in helpful manner.....

I always hate when they have "high class" writers come in and test drive cars. They seem to never write good reviews on muscle cars just the rice burners with their 55 mpg gargage. If you don't want to pay for gas ride a freakin bike.
and also 350z are slow as balls!!! they have terrible excel and top end. the only time you will see or ride in a fast one is if has had an engine swap. which in fact i know someone with 1 and did an engine swap because that motor sucked.
i will bet money that a 350Z will lose to a Mustang GT on perfect conditions for both cars
but the 350Z will rape the the Mustang GT in the curves....i don't know where you are getting the thing where the Z is as fast as the Mustang GT, yes it is roughly in the same league but the GT is faster
