Default 1/4 mile and 0 to 60 time loss with 20inch rims

hi all,how much time is lost with a standard gt assuming everything else is equal.the only difference would be stock 18inch rims and tires or 20 in 255/35/20 front and rear.

it all depends on the weight of the rims... whn i got the shelby razors i think it was 269lbs (wheels and tires) and it made a big difference... i dont know the specifics on 60fot time or 1/4 but there is def. a loss

yeah 20's do tend to weigh alot..the better tires will help your grip though
i went with 18's and love them

Only one way to really find out and that's to weigh them and then go to the track and test them.

I know there's a difference, but I don't think it's as much as people tend to believe.

There was a recent thread were they removed like 40# of unsprung weight from the wheels, and the car went almost a tenth quicker. Yes, It's quicker, and it ended up being a difference of like 13ft at the end of the 1/4 mile which is over 1/2 a car...

But some people would lead you to beleive that your GT all of a sudden starts running like a 6cyl and looks like a ricer wannabe car cause you run 20" rims...

Unless they are DR's leave them at home. Don't run your street tires at the track. Get you some sticky icky tires if you wanna run.

the average is 1lb of rotating mass(unsprung) equals 10lbs of sprung weight. So on average every 10lbs you add to the wheels its about 100lbs total which is usually a tenth. Here is an example since I'm on my 3rd set of rims and tires. Stock rims and tires 12.9 at 112, 18" steeda rimswith toyo tires13.2 at 113, cobra replica wheels that way 4lbs less than stock with drag radials 12.4 at 111. Its a huge difference. Feels like your draging around a boat anchor.

What doesn't make sense is how you managed to go 1mph faster with the bigger rims, and .30 slower.

If they're lighter and the overall height didn't change than it makes perfect sense.
