no, i just didn't think you really took it
up that high, when i first read it.....

Well you caught me.  I only took it up to 91

Ok, that's not totally true.  91 is what most people cruise at on the interstate.  I did manage to get it up to 100.

Well after I got going that fast it didn't seem right to slow down just yet.  I mean it was very early and nobody was around, not even any houses on this highway.  So I managed another 10mph and a few more ponies.

Now anyone who's ever hit it in 4th gear knows that you can't stop once you past 110.  It's hard to even think past that speed, let alone take your foot off the gas.  I think I might have blacked out for a split second and let off when I saw the speedo hitting 120.

Now I did say I went 119, but I actually let up around 118 because the hp went down quick on the next recording.  I only post this pic because Hammeron called BS on me and I can't have that hanging over my head.

I had to teach Hammeron not to call BS on me!  If I can't get a picture of it, i'm sure I can photoshop something.

By the way the gauge keeps atleast the last recorded parameters in memory.  I didn't know this until Hammeron called me out.  I should really read the instructions completely, no telling what else it can do.

Aeroforce should pay me to pimp their product so much.

Where did you buy this gauge the more I hear you talk about it the more I want one .
Oh yea does it read air / fuel.

I bought the gauge directly from aeroforce.  I believe www.lethalperformance.com has a good deal on them though.  It can only display things that the car has a sensor for, so anything the pcm can see, you can see.  It can display air/fuel if you buy an air/fuel sensor that has a control with it.  It has two analog connections for additional sensors like air/fuel, boost or oil pressure.

thanks for clarifying moose

you should get a commission on aeroforce
gauges that are sold, you do a nice job
of promoting them

even i, would love to have one ..... i might
do a center dash mod someday, when the prices
come down......

So I had a chance to do a full pull to 6000-6100 or so.  In record mode.... I got a max of

547 HP

my dyno sheet at 6000 is 411 so that is a difference of 136 HP or 24.8%.  Seems a bit much to me.  If you figure loss to the blower of 35HP ( as per Vortech) and drivetrain loss of 12% (5spd) that would = 450 RWHP.  A difference of nearly 10%.

Thoughts ?  Comments?

What were the conditions when you had the car dynoed?  I'd expect any car to make more hp on the stree at 90mph than on a dyno with a big fan blowing on it, especially a car that relys on an intercooler.

I was going to figure a 15% drivetrain loss just to be safe.  Anyway shouldn't your car be making around 450rwhp with the HO vortech?  Isn't it pushing 10psi or no?

I think your dyno results are a little low for the vortech HO kit, 430's seem to be the norm.  I will get mine dynoed this Friday and we can compare.  I've thought about swapping the pulleys to see if I get less hp with the 8, but i'd have to do a run with each on the same day.  That's to much work for me.

well.... the car made 435 @ 6350 RPM. It was done in late Jan 06 so temps were probably similar to today and it was on a Mustang Dyno.

According to the print out (not the graph) @ 6000 it made 411

I did the pull in 2nd and let off @ 6000, so I hit maybe 65-70 or so.  I had my 4 year old with me so I wasnt gonna go 90+ LOL.

Tomorrow is a local cruise and I'll do it again to see where she maxes out.

had a chance to do another pull,  3rd gear this time.  Max power was 574 and max RPM was 6385.  Still seems a bit high to me.

my car dynoed at 435 @ 6350... so taking the loss to the Vortech and 15%(which I think is high) it would work out to 458.

Its fun to play with but I'm not sure how accurate.
