Two days with a single GT takeoff

zwilletts1023 -> Two days with a single GT takeoff (12/27/2007 2:08:03 PM)

and i am going to convert to Duals tommorow.  I got the mufflers off of EBAY, for $15.50 cant argue with that.  My muffler shop quoted me $85 to custom make an H pipe and they have the driver side hangar in stock.  I am so excited is the sound alot louder from a single or is it about the same.  Tommorow cannot come soon enough

hey zwilletts1023,
how much of a difference do u notice from the stock V6 to the single GT takeoff?  also did u put a chrome tip on the GT takeoff muff???? I am debating if i should go the GT takeoff route or not............

a gt takeoff should be a must mod unless you have another aftermarket muff in mind already or a dual setup in the works. i can't imagine my car still sporting the v6 factory muff [:'(]. you can find gt takeoffs really cheap and you can install them yourself. better sound, better flow, better babes [;)].

+1

I expected nothing more than improved sound (which i didn't like at first - i'm picky). But I did notice an overall gain (nothing dramatic) but a gain nonetheless. Seemed like the engine wasn't wheezing through a straw any more. I've got duals sitting in the garage... they'll be going on first chance I get. [:D]

zwilletts1023 -> RE: Two days with a single GT takeoff (12/27/2007 6:24:52 PM)

it was very noticeable, It took about a day for me to be able to tell the difference.  Start up and idle are awesome i love it and through the lower RPM's it sounds real well.  I thought it would get a little ricey up in the higher rev's but it isnt as bad as i once thought.  You should be pleased.  I did not get a chrome tip yet but when i put it in the shop tommorow ill probably have them weld 4" inch chrome tips just like Sancho805's those tips are incredible.

Has anyone had problems with custom H pipes made from muffler shops?

I believe Sancho is running JBA mufflers, which actually come with 3" tips, not 4".  The JBAs have pretty long tips which stick off the back of the car pretty far, but they only have a 3" diameter.

They still look awesome though.  I spend a lot of time staring at Sancho's car in his sig picture.  Very slick.

You could be picky and try and get the GT take-offs with the chrome upgrade package like I got.  My GT take-offs are chrome tipped.

zwilletts1023 -> RE: Two days with a single GT takeoff (12/29/2007 11:59:28 AM)

ok after a couple days with the duals, WOW.  thats all i can say they are awesome for what they are i absolutely love the look, sound and feel of them.  This is a must mod.  My bad about the Tips i just like the look of them

Razorbackfan -> RE: Two days with a single GT takeoff (12/29/2007 2:07:13 PM)

I bought two GT takeoffs from ebay for $50.00 including shipping, put one on my stock V6 exhaust and noticed the difference in sound. Then, not wanting to pretend it's a GT (heaven forbid I cross that line), but because it's my car and I will do what I want, I had Midas install dual exhaust and an H pipe and the other GT takeoff. It just never made sense to me that the V6 has a dual exhaust running into one exhaust pipe. Very nice deep rumble and it looks good too.

zwilletts1023 -> RE: Two days with a single GT takeoff (12/30/2007 3:21:37 PM)

Has anyone ever had problems with a rattling noise when the car is idle after they have gotten there dual exhaust on .

07PonyVert -> RE: Two days with a single GT takeoff (12/31/2007 10:38:36 AM)

Congrats on the conversion and, yes, it does ROCK!  I was originally going to slap on a GT/CS (has the chrome tips) exhaust on, but after an untimely accident, I made lemonade out of lemons and had the shop convert me to true duals.  The look, sound and feel is AWESOME.  A friend of mine with a GT said that he couldn't believe how great the sound was compared alongside his stock GT.  It's definitely got a little more kick from a performance standpoint now, and I can't say enough about the sound.  I have a vert, so I really pick up on the rumble a bit more since there's no metal roof sealing me in from outside noise.  Sometimes I find myself shutting off the radio and enjoying my Pony's song! [;)]

As for any rumbling or rattling, so far so good and no issues...

Dwisforme05 -> RE: Two days with a single GT takeoff (12/31/2007 11:25:40 AM)

anyone use an xpipe instead of an H? i know jimc has, but i already have my gt takeoffs(chrome tips) and im ordering the pypes xpipe and midpipes. i cant waite to put em on.

Larmo -> RE: Two days with a single GT takeoff (12/31/2007 11:28:56 AM)

I helped a local sixer install my stock GT mufflers and it made the car sound much much better. More of a true Mustang sound and feel. The GT mufflers are gone but I have other GT take-offs available if anyone wants them from my car. http://www.mustangforums.com/m_4396250/tm.htm

zwilletts1023 -> RE: Two days with a single GT takeoff (12/31/2007 12:08:42 PM)

i find myself doing the same thing with the radio off windows down.  Even in 40 degree weather ha.  i took the car back to the shop today to see if they could figure out the rattling and it turned out to be one of the hangars on the driver side was hitting the frame causing a noise and now its all straightened out with no noise
