there is usually a 7-9K on top of the base factory sticker for the Shelby package.... some dealer n the begining marking up the Shelby GTs as well... but only 5-10K not 20K like the GT500

But, it seems the consensus is 30 years from now, they will be able to sell them at Barrett Jackson for 3x's that cause it's a Shelby. The hard part seems to be buying one for 8k over the sticker, and then sitting on it for the next 30 years without driving it and keeping it in absolute mint condition.

There is only a 1k gas guzzler on this http://www.mustangforums.com/m_4374198/tm.htm# the rest is greedy stealership markup. That dealership is in Vegas "Sin City" and it is a Sin how the try and squeeze us on the prices

the big dealer by me, they always have GT500s and GTs. they put signs on the cars saying.. MSRP - 32,000 Dealer Markup - 5000 Your Price - 37000 and people pay it, this dealer moves the Shelbys in and out fast.

That isn't "additional dealer mark up" that is the price of the Shelby GT conversion package. Ford sends the GT out to Shelby and they do the mods to it - the window sticker is the Shelby package and you can see the original Ford window sticker as well on them for the GT that formed the base of the Shelby GT.

yes, it's important to those unfamiliar with the Shelby GT to understand what "markup" refers to. Shelby GT's should come with 2 window stickers. The one from the Ford Factory that all GTs have and the one from Shelby that's usually on the windshield that shows the cost of the "Shelbification" + the $1000 gas guzzler tax. The Ford ones will vary. I've seen them from $29-33,000. Some are Deluxe GTs with cloth seats and standard radios while others are fully loaded with leather, Auto transmission, Navigation, IUP and ambient lighting. Markup is used by dealers to balance high demand. It is what allows that Shelby GT to actually be bought by you or me. If there was no initial markup you'd probably never even get the chance to see one or sit in one at the dealer's showroom. The good news is that it's negotiable and if you bargain with the dealership, explaining how you want to purchase an extended warranty, service plan, etc. they may come down on any markup. I've seen it at about $5,000 but also as high as $20,000! And the dork kid salesman called it the GT350! Thumbnail Image

Agree with you. I know I could have bought a normal GT and modded it out but having the Shelby upgrade does make the car worth more down the road. Besides if a person has the bucks then spend away, know I don't have to get my hands dirty I can focus on enjoying the ride. I do like the fact that it is covered by warrenty too. quote:
ORIGINAL: offrdmania Reason for it being that much is that they have to pay Shelby for his licensing and then a dealer mark-up. The difference between buying it already done and picking up the parts in the parts dept is that Ford will cover the Shelby GT 100% in its powertrain warranty. Show me how you can get Ford to cover your programmer under the factory warranty? The Shelby GT has a programmer and its covered...
