Here is my story.
I just had my motor built by Adam at ST Motorsports with the following...(BTW they built in 5 working days)

Stock Mustang block, JE blower pistons and rings, Scat forged H beam rods, Kellog forged crank, tri metal bearings, new oil pump, cometic head gaskets, arp head studs.
HP Valve job and surface on cylinder heads with Livernois springs and Manley intake and exhaust valve upgrade.

60lb injectors with clips
Big mouth TB, modified KB inlet manifold, 4" intake pipe
Clutch Masters stage 4 clutch kit
8 bolt Mcloud aluminum flywheel
GT 500 fuel kit with dual fuel pumps, dual fpdm's and harness
Kenne Bell 8 rib kit
Kenne bell boost a pump (for a total of 2)
Serp belt tensioner
Upgraded Ford Racing IC pump
Fluidyne heat exchanger (modified to fit)

It's a great setup and I was looking for 600 rwhp. All that my KB 2.6 could muster was 497 rwhp at 15psi on pump and 538 rwhp at 17psi 100 octane. Bitterly dissapointing
So my only option was to get the 2.6H and hope for the best. Adam got me a real good deal on the 2.6H and I was ready to pull the trigger.
Adam has recently modified the Whipple 2.3L manifold to fit the massive 3.4 Whipple on Kens car and it is putting down some real good numbers. I asked Adam today if he would be able to modify the KB manifold in order to put the Whipple 3.4 on my existing KB manifold. He said that he should be able to do it. I will keep the inlet tube running on the same side as the KB. I will post some numbers in the coming weeks.

I am disapointed with the KB and yes I have every inlet, tb, heat exchanger, water pump, fuel pump upgrade I can get and 538 rwhp on 100 octane. I am sure if I called KB they would work with me, but I like that Whipple. This will be the second 3.4 on a 3v and I will be the first with a hybrid KB/Whipple, man the environmentalists are going to love my new hybrid

Adam is an inovator for sure. He is modifying the plate that hooks to the manifold to fit. He did this on a Whipple car that is now putting 720 rwhp to the ground He also is one of the best tuners out there....BTW KB head unit for sale.

I'm no expert and certainly no tuner, but 538rwhp with 17psi doesn't sound right.

You are correct.. I have every part imaginable to make 600-650 and my KB is a lemon. I could start fighting with them, but I want the Whipple Cooler intake air temps and 3.4 liters. I think a kit will be coming soon to modify other SC's, and the 3.4 liter by itself is pretty reasonable.

Are you sure it's making 17lbs of boost?  Did you post the dyno sheet and I missed it?  I would expect to make more than 538 even with the 2.3L whipple and 17psi.

I think he is going to use the whipple 2.3 manifold with the 3.4 whipple blower.

Sounds real good!! If you need more power then i guess you need more power.  I also went to ST motorsports for my installation.  They are real fast.

I currently have a Kenne Bell and we are putting the Whipple right on the KB manifold. I had the boost gauge outside the car and we hit 17psi and got 538, at 15 psi we got 527, so you can see the blower ran out. This was on 100 octane

did you ever consider a larger crank
pulley, or did the calculations show
it wouldn't have gotten you enough
additional boost

We had plenty of smaller pullys, with the KB you can go all the way to 30 psi or so. Adam said that 17psi is about all we could do, we got 527 out of the 15 psi and 538 out of the 17 psi pully. I researched the early 2.6 kb blowers and I have seen plenty of threads like this. They are good at 8-12 psi, but after that kaput...

Then how come that FordFanBoy puts down 650rwhp with his KB at 17psi? he even runs low 10s with a 4 speed auto? maybe he could explain...

Maybe its just a malfunctioning KB unit and thats his perfect excuse to get the big moma 3.4L Whipple under the hood

If the blower is making 17psi then the engine should be making more power, unless the blower is using over 100hp.  I just don't get how it's kaput after 12psi.

Glad to hear about the new project. You'll be very happy with the performance of the Whipple. It's a more efficient blower and will make more power easier than having to overspin a less efficient blower. Jared
