Ok believe it or not this is going to be my very first bolt on upgrade to my car. My question is, what items are needed and what needs to be done to a V6 Mustang in order to have true dual working exhaust?
I have recommendations on the exaust tips + muffler kits to get, but I wanna know if X or H is better, what headers, and anything else I might need.
A list would HELP.

I would personally go with an H-Pipe and the sound mufflers of your choice (not sure what kinda sound you want).
I have a single MRT Aeroturbine... some say it sounds kinda ricey at higher rpms but I love it... it sounds more of a euro road racer at the highest rpms. Going through one of the tunnels here in town, I scared the hell out of about 3 cars when I punched it at the green light through the tunnel... I even saw a car swerve in the rear view mirror when I passed lmao. It wasn't intentional, but I did have my windows down and just wanted to see how loud my car could get through there :P
It has a nice muscly rumble to it at idle or normal driving.
Here's a link again for mine... This video has the most closest sound to what it sounds like in person. It is that deep and does scream when it's at WOT.
That was for the single MRT... don't have one for duals...
For other sound clips click on that first link I gave ya! :)
For a whole H pipe w/ mufflers setup you are looking at FROM @ around $450. Someone just got a sweet deal in here on their Duals (JBA i think they were). I've since checked out numerous sound clips on those and they sound pretty damned good. They aren't the most expensive of the crop either.

+1 on the MRT AeroTurbine. I love mine. I don't know if I'd get duals with it since it's so loud, but for a single I haven't heard anything that beats it, in my opinion. Mine sounds exactly like the one in the video Xyster posted, both interior and exterior. It definitely gets the car looks.
In any case, if what you want is great sound then get an H-pipe. If it's performance you're after, get an X-pipe. The X will enable you to have better backpressure for when you need to get on a highway or are in a sitation where you need to punch it (I get into those situations a lot ).

If you want duals, do not go for MRT's, they sounds BAD when paired (they are even iffy for a single). Personally, I would recommend to go with a pre-made set. You never know what can happen with custom setups. I think the best, in descending order, are:
Stainless Works full exhaust FRPP Cat-Back Stainless Works Cat-Back JBA Y-Pipe Cat-Back(waring, you will probably have to buy Ford hangers)
The difference between the X and H pipes are negligible. The Y pipe is preferable for N/A cars though.

Also the MRT Aeroturbines dual'd up probably are gonna need some resonator of some sorts if that is the case on the sound... An H-pipe would balance out the sound a bit and the resonators would hopefully cut back on any drone. I'm happy with the single but want the look and sound of the dual. I may do it the cheap way and get some take off's :P lmao Best of luck!
*edit*
Also don't be confused between the MRT Muffs... They have the Aeroturbine and another one. The other is a little cheaper (someone here has duals, I think it's screamin) of that version. I haven't seen any dual MRT Aeroturbine v6's on this forum yet.
You won't ever get a v6 to sound like a v8... because it's a v6. However, you can improve the sound drastically by changing out pipes, headers and muffs to get a nice deeper richer tone. It will probably sound like the hottest thing coming down the road in my opinion. Why put duals on a v6? Why not? Why put a supercharger on a GT or v6 or change out leather seats... It's all about what you want and the sound you want. Have fun with it and do what YOU want!

LMAO Yeah hopefully by then i'll have enough for the same setup. If ya beat me to it, post up some pics and sound clips for us!
Hopefully when tax return time comes I'll be able to convert to duals. I'm expecting to. But there's no way you're gonna get me to get a left MRT for duals. I'm leaning towards Pypes Street Pros or Magnaflows with an X. Then I'm probably going to add that Street Scene rear valence. I've seen a couple around here on V6s... they look pretty sweet.

if you really are interested in the SS rear valance, i decided against mine but ninosport wont let me return it, id be willing to sell it for almost half what it costs brand new from online stores(ninosport has it for $195+shipping, i could do like 100+shipping which would be like $30-40 because of its size/weight most likly)it still has all the paper work,screws,3M tape that it orginally came with, never even been out of the box for more than a few min to check it out, only problem is when its at the shop getting painted they would have to heat it up and fix a 1-2" section(a slight bow in the shape),i showed it to my body shop when i was planning on using it still, they said it was a very easy fix and that sometimes happens to that type of material when sitting in a box for so long in the same position

i second that, i already have one mrt and i love it, its about time i go for duals but i cant decided whether to get the gt/cs rear bumper i want or just make a whole in my stock one....btw do u think the dual exhausts connected to the H pipe would stop that occassional bang on my rear axle more? lol and where can i get an H pipe ? which are you going to get?
JBA has a h-pipe midpipe assembly... v6mustangstuff.com sells it for $349... i personally think I'm gonna go with this setup (I have some gt takeoffs sittin around waiting to be used...)

Thanks, Fallout. I'll consider that. I can't get it just yet, but I am interested. Is it primed and ready for paint? I think it'd look pretty cool just like a matte black, though I've never seen one like that before. But in any case since I have colored rockers I think I'd paint it. Thanks for the information.
hello all, Ive got a gt and I am running side exhaust so I wanted to give my neice the duals but not the bumper, I read how to cut the bumper to work but I have not seen the underside of her car yet. I am giving her the pipes from my x all the way back plus mufflers and brackets and bolts. if I cut the bumper ,hang the mufflers, and hang the two pipes over the wheels, I guess take it to a muffler shop? what else will I need an x or h pipe? where does your pipe or pipes come down?

You can leave the stock passeger side mid-pipe in place. I have the GT x-pipe, which is cut into the y-pipe behind the cats. It mates up nicely with the stock passenger side pipe, and the GT mid-pipe (X to over rear axle to muffler) for the driver's side fits too. My duals are all Ford parts, btw.

I currently have a single GT take off, got it for $30 off craigslist. You have heard my car, a bit more rumble than a stock V6. I will be going to dual Magnaflows with a "X". You will need to either cut your rear valance, get a new one, or depending where you have it installed, they may cut it for you as part of the job.
From the exhaust I have listened to, there is more of a tendancy to have a high pitch on a "H", and you get a deeper tone with the "X" and more performance.
At the end of the day, it's what you like. For the price range you are looking at you definately could get a decent set up. Check the usual sites, ebay, craigs list, etc. Also, Hardcore Mustangs down here in San Diego has a group buy going and you may be able to get a good deal.
