If the H sounds better.. why is Ford selling an X for the V6?

I have been told that I need to buy a dual set-up.. (a present from my wife).. and was seriously considering this:

http://www.fordracingparts.com/parts/part_details.asp?PartKeyField=9910

My goal is decent sound with NO drone on the highway.

everything i've ever seen people say is that X pipes are more raspy but more performace increase and H are deeper with less performance than X

but the performace difference isnt enough to matter anyway so it just comes down to sound, as for Fords package, they probably werent going for best "sound" when they made that.

my JBA H pipe/mid pipes showed up on x-mas eve, now i just gotta order my 2 MRT's, cant wait

The x pipe sounds good on a sixer.

I'm happy with the X and GT take offs on my car.  Not sure what everyone means by "raspy" but then I've never really heard it while someone else was driving it.

I have the same set up and I don't hear the raspy sound.....it sounds pretty good for a V6.

.....excuse me, did you say something?

Oh, you did. I think you should research Rygen, Buckman, and Fazm, I'm sure you will see that "riced out" sixers, that only girls should be driving, would easily beat the crap out of your uber masculine purple mach.

I still stand that I think the H is better sounding, more balanced and better toned. The X still sounds pretty damn good too but I just prefer the sound of an H over an X despite the claimed performance increase with an X (however much or little it may be). Even on a GT, the H sounds a bit better to me.

Fallout, shoot me over a link to some sound clips when you get the pipes and muffs put on! :) I'd love to hear those bad boys roar. CD quality 160kbps + files only plz :P jk

The kid and his barney mobile both need to grow up.

SO!  I'm still wondering if X pipe or H pipe is better.   I'm thinking of either Flowmasters or BoomTubes but I needa know if I should get X or H and what headers I should get.

Kay THANKS AGAIN FOR NOT DERAILING THIS THREAD PEOPLE!  ^_^

honestly, i think the sound diff and perf diff for both x and h are minimal and its really up to which MINIMAL diff you want: slightly throatier sound with an H, or slightly better flow with an X. its gotta be a no lose situation since niether difference is much noticeable. JMO. i really dig my setup and have no desire to change it. good luck.

The sound quality on that video is a bit bad I think (?)... because when it gets loud all I hear are what sounds like popping and clicks :P

BTW I'm using logitech speakers (5.1) so I know it isn't them lol. I can hear it idling though and it sounds pretty good!

I don't know why it's popping so much, I did just wash the car right before that so there was probably some water in the pipes at first. Should have let it warm up some more first, I guess. It was in the low 40's when I took that earlier. It normally sounds the way it does in the video after about 0:30.

the idle sounds great but the pops kill me, thats the biggest thing im afraid of, if the MRTs pop alot im gonna be pissed, i havent really heards pops in the videos i've seen so im hoping it will be ok, but when i spend $500 on axel backs alone they better be top notch

it was only because it was cold out and I just started it. It normally doesn't do that popping once it's warmed up a minute or so. I may have to make another video. Almost all aftermarkets will pop-some people actually look for that sound. Like you, I personally find it irritating.

My MRT Aeroturbine popped a bit at WOT for the first couple months or so if I remember correctly... now I haven't really noticed it pop at all. On a cold start during the season right now though (it's about 30-40 out right now) it pops for a while then after it gets warm it vanishes... excess juice running through gets burnt up a little quicker so less spit I guess.

The first day I got them, I drove home muffless and had my uncle who was over at the time rev it up... was quite a punch to the stomach. I put my Aeroturbine on and had him do the same, got the same punch again (but with the pops since it was cold and new). First time I heard him rev it up and drive off (I was the first of course before) I could hear my damn car going down about 8 blocks, then continue when he got on it going down the country road (still going away for probably another 1/8 of a mile?)

It was a good day :)

*NOTE: Driving with the muffs is illegal... but it's damn fun. On the way home I set off about every damn car alarm through every street I went down. Intentionally? Maybe... Didn't really notice how it sounded since I was about half deaf on the way home...

**EDIT** Just saw your post... Yup, they'll break in sooner or later. I was actually just referring to the sound quality of the vid though. Some video cameras tend to lose "bass" and some "mid" quality when the sound level gets really extreme. I know, I play drums with friends and tried to record while playing guitar (drums sound like p.o.s. with nothing but clicks). It's the recording itself i'm pretty sure. I don't know if it's a failsafe type of thing on the mic or whatever that prevents some sort of damage, but it sure is annoying. The last camera I returned because the sound would "fade" whenever a loud noise of any sorts was produced (sound leveling??) but in any case I couldn't turn it off.

I need to limit my word useage on posts...

well if the MRT only pops when cold and before it breaks in thats not so bad, i know most of them do i just hate the stuff that sounds like that even after almost a year...i was calling around last night trying to find a better deal on the mrt's but couldnt find anyone else who even carried them, when i talked to some guy at ninosport he said he had the entier aeroturbine cat back system or something but not just axel backs, and that they are exclusivly from MRT direct, then he tried to get me to try boomtubes, he says everyone is always surpised at how good they can sound even on a 4.0..but i didnt want to take my chances

so with that said, i just placed my order for a pair of aeroturbines, $513 including shipping, ouch
