I guys, this is a dumb question but I need to know. How many liters of Oil does a 92 5.0L motor require? The car I bought has been modiifed and I am not sure if I should trust the dip stick.

I read that some guys run as little as 3 quarts in the 5.0 because it reduces windage, but not a good idea in the 4.6 because of the top end oiling it needs.

Those dudes are also dragsters that probably have a pressurized resivior for when the oil PSI drops and rely on that to keep them from screwing over the motor.
I ALWAYS put in exactly what the motor needs. Hell, we put about 7 quarts of Mobil 1 10W50 synthetic in the Chevelle after every run. We could go down to about 4, but toasted motors is baaaaaaad news.

No it is just tips on ways to get through the 1320 quicker. He even goes on to say that if your only racing at the track you can drain fluid from the trans. manual only, and the rear. This is for reduced parasitic loss which equals more HP.I would never personally do this other than maybe experiment with it on the track, but not a daily driver.I would say that anyone who practices this long term is going to experience trouble.
