I'm going to sell my 2000 S281 and get a new car. I can't decide between the newer Saleen SC or GT500. To tell you the truth i don't know which one would be cheaper anyway. I think GT500 is more powerfull but it's just not as pretty as Saleen. What do you guys think? what are some major differences here that i should think about... I Want something faster and my 2k s281 just isn't doing it... If i get a saleen, it will have to be Supercharged.
also, this will be my daily driver just like my current saleen is.

Better yet, Al Toon just picked up a practically new 2006 Extreme (600 miles) off ebay for somewhere around $40-45k. With the introduction of the 302E, i'm sure you can get a great deal on a brand new 2007E or slightly used 2006 with the non 302 engine.

Sorry...I should preface that with the fact that I don't know exactly how much he actually ended up paying for it....but the buy it now price for it was $49k. It was listed several times and never sold. The listing had some deadbeat buyers and the owner kept dropping the price to sell it. I believe he ended up going and negotiating with the party directly and so I'm pretty sure he got it around the $40-45k range or so. He was talking about offering $40k and going in person since the car was right around the corner.
Maybe he'll post the price and make us all insanely jealous how good of a deal he got on a beautiful car. How about it, Al???

I bought it for 51k. local car for 600 miles.
my buddy has a gt500 and I have a saleen E coupe. Ive driven both. trust me. get the E. I cant fill up gas and have someone say "that is badass!" "Ive never seen anything like that before!" "can you rev it for me and son"
the Gt500 isnt as eye catchy, I think it weighs 400-500 lbs more. the wheels are weak looking on the gt500.
plus if you get the E you can always do the upgrade up 650 ponies

I bought it for 51k. He had some other buyer who was ready for 49. (not sure if he was blowing smoke up my ass) I ran to the ATM and used a few cards to get cash out quick to slap down 2k lol

The GT500 can put that to the rear wheels with the stock Eaton depending on mods. Thats about 750 at the flywheel. Switch to a KB and you can get 800+ to the wheels and still be saving money compared to the E.
Looks are objective. The GT500 front facia, hood, wheels look better to me. More aggressive maybe. The Saleen, and all the S-281 models, are fantastic looking all around.
The Shelby is more comfortable.
The Saleen is certainly, stock to stock, a better drive, and for what Altoon paid for it, a no brainer here...
