Default Wheel to strut clearence on 84 v6 question

Hello, my friend owns an 84 stang V6 3.8. He ordered a set of 17" tire and wheel package from a vendor and asked me to install them on. After installing the fronts I noticed that the top of the rim is only 3/16" away from the strut housing. I'm concerned about the small clearence. I have been driving in normally the past few days and rechecked if the wheel had made contact with the sturt housing. I does not seem to touch at this time. I'm wondering if a spacer is recommended as time and wear may bring these two together or on hard turns. Do you think I should installa spacer to move the rim out? Will 1/4" be enough? Also, where can I buy wheel spacers that fit the 84s 4 lug pattern? thanks for any replies.

Default RE: Wheel to strut clearence on 84 v6 question

The wheel should NEVER move in relation to the strut. The strut and the wheel bolt to the same spindle, so there is no moving between the two. Your clearance is fine.
